DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My Dyna S ignition and 3ohm coils arrived today. Have a few quick questions for folks who have done this before.

Can I reuse the heat-protective wire insulation over the Dyna wiring? It seems like the Dyna insulation would get a little crispy so close to the engine where the stock wires run. I haven't tried yet, but it looks like I may be able to route things through the stock heat-shield insulation. This probably easier said than done, though, so is it necessary?

Also, I'm considering doing the following for a static timing:

1) Key on

2) Line up marks

3) Hook up coil to cylinder 1 (or 4)to a "spark tester" with the clip grounded to the block.

4) Spin Dyna S "rotor plate" until I get spark out of 1 (or 4). Visually mark.

5) Retest visual mark by turning rotor plate again until spark.

6) Fasten down rotor plate.

7) Use timing light to double check and go from there

Finally, the splicer thingy they give you for the orange/white and red wires seems a little chinsy. I think it might be worthwhile soldering things together. Overkill in your opinion???

I'll take some digital photos to document stuff for future reference for amateurs like myself.

The directions for timing your ignition should have come with it. If you need them, PM me and I'll dig mine up and share them with you. It's been a while since I did mine, but I'd be happy to share..............

The splicer that came with the kit worked perfect for me and should last.

I routed my wires from the ignition exactly as stock. The heat protective insulation wouldn't hurt but most of mine was gone anyway from my stock set-up.

The directions were complete and easy to follow.....took me about 2 and 1/2 hours to install.

I did solder my plug wires to the end that plugs into the coil.

Thanks (once again), Mark.

The instructions did come with it. I looked through them and they made sense, but I'd like to try the procedure I described because I won't have access to a timing light until the weekend. I THINK my method would work assuming I'd be within +/- 10 degrees, but I'm VERY likely wrong.

That's a good idea to solder where the wires are "crimped" to the portions that plug into the coil. I'll do that for sure.

Everyday we have nice weather here in St. Louis KILLS me. Can't wait to get things going again, but I'm waiting on some parts still (various gaskets, rear tire, exhaust o-rings/intake boot o-rings for good measure, fork seals, etc.) I'll post pics soon.

Sounds like we're in about the same place. Here's where I am except the block is off now too. Maybe it will never run again, but it sure has a nice Dyna S on it.
