I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I was cleaning out behind the engine cover over the sproket.
I noticed that the sprocket nut was not tight against the washer is this normal ?
Also, I can wriggle the sprocket laterally a small amount, again, normal ?
Seems not right to me because the manual says to tighten to around
70 lb/ft.
And I wouldn't think that sprocket should move/shuck a small amount like it's ID is larger than the shaft OD.
Thanks

If it is tightened to specs and still wiggles even a bit then theres something else internally in the trans happening. It otherewise should not wiggle side to side.

If your inner shaft splines on the sprocket are now worn, I have plenty of good C/S sprockets with 15T that I could send you one for the price of shipping/Paypal cost.

You'll need to check it closely, definitely not good!

When I first bought my 450 the counter shaft sprocket was loose.

When I spoke to a mechanic about it (before I was a member here) he said replace the sprocket and check the splines. 9 times out of 10 the splines on the shaft are harder than the sprocket and won't wear much if at all depending on how long it was ridden like that.

I checked my counter shaft out while I had the engine apart and it seems ok, saved me about $250 for a NOS part.

Make sure you replace the sprocket and torque it right!

OK, thanks guys, I'm glad I was cleaning up and found it.
Apparantly not something you'd just go looking for.
What would be some possible bad scenarios because of the loosenes/wobble ?

What I noticed with mine was extra snatch in the drive chain from closed throttle, but I could work around that with the clutch until I found what it was.

Worst case is split the cases and replace the counter shaft in the gearbox... which is why I checked mine thoroughly while I had the cases split.
