A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi Guys,Been trying to get my 82 gs100g running right since November, latest problems is a high speed misfire after 5k revs, bike is a bugger to start (still)not as bad though since valves adjusted.Once bike is warm starts and idles fine and ok up tp 5k revs then misfires from then on.Have cleaned carbs, new air filter, new diaphragms, lowered e clip to enrich mixture on all carbs(seemed worse)refitted all exhaust(no leaks) though this is an aftermarket pattern that is more free flowing, but i have wrapped baffles with proper baffle material. On the hard starting will only start on 1/10th choke any more kills engine?.Have fiited new plugs B8es,checked float level, new petcock and float needle valves as originally carbs were overflowing.Plugs are now showing grey after plug chop, have set pilot screws on top of engine intakes to 1 1/2 turns out but have set with gunsons to no avail,Starting to think may be electrical? though happens hot and cold......any ideas gratefully accepted.......Cheers Paul J..

how bad is the stutter?
What i mean is, will it still run, or does it cough, bog, and die if you keep the throttle open.

Will it get past 6 or 7k?

More like a slight misfire engine will rev right up to red line only sympton i can relate it to is when a car condensor breaks down and you get arcing in points cant be in this case as electronic ignition.

... lowered e clip to enrich mixture on all carbs(seemed worse)...

Since richening your fuel mixture made your problem worse, try leaning it out and see if that works.

Mine was doing the same "won't run past 5000 rpm" thing. Leaner mixture cured that: two notches leaner (clip up) on the needles and two sizes smaller on the main jets (from 110s to 102.5s). Now it revs strong to redline, and the plug colours seem what they should be.

Raise um...the more you lower them, the more you "plug the hole" 8-[.
If your fouling out the plugs at an idle/ cold start situation and can only start it with 1 /10th choke, you must be runnung too rich on the pilot circuit. Have you vacuum synched the carbs? :-s The high speed misfire may be a leaning out problem with the lowered clips and or too small of a main jet size.

Lowering the E clip would raise the needle... If that's what you meant then we are on the same page...

Bit confused now guys,on on the needle are 5 grooves the middle is the factory setting i believe. so if i put e clip on bottom groove i am going max rich? the top groove(nearest to the top of carb) is leanest? is that correct?
