    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

excess fuel in #2

tore the carbs off and excess fuel still in #2 what does this mean?:confused:
 
Maybe a leaking petcock. Fuel flows backwards down the vacuum line sometimes if the petcock fails.
 
ok i got a prob! i went to go tear the carbs apart and i cant get the screws to loosen on the bar that holds the carbs together. any ideas on how to loosen these?
 
Those are often stuck. Only way to get them off is with an impact screw driver. Check you local auto parts store.

But... if you are not leaking gas between the carbs (along the common fuel cannel that has o-ring'ed fittings), I would not bother breaking them up. You can clean them with the rack still together. You won't be able to dip them but you really don't have to. You just want to remove the jets and use cleaner and compressed air in all the passages and holes.
 
i think i want to have them dipped because i think they are a real problem. they have been cleaned twice now and are still acting up
 
I would try vise grips & get a set of allen screws to replace them from an ebayer Let each carb soak fo at least 8 hours

hey lynn is this what u would recommend to get them pulled apart and soak them or try to clean them as is? oh and thank you for the link for the allen screws i will definatly order some.

Try a hardware store or a bolt shop. If you start tearing into those carbs make sure you have tight fitting decent screwdrivers. Get an impact screwdriver for the rail screws.
 
where can i find the best rebuild kit that is still not too expensive. working off of a low budget for now. (need to make more) lol
 
Just buy the float bowl gaskets and dip and clean the rest. Don't dip the float needle though.
 
u say dip the rest but what about all the rubbers don't i need to replace all of these?
 
ok i just purchased it now all i have to do is wait for it and look forward to digging into those carbs. i also bought the chem-dip today. look forward to getting it done. don't worry everyone i am also going to change p/c, air filter, all spark plugs, boots (engine side). sad to say that i won't be driving it for a while but when i get it all done at least it should be all good to go. main reason for not getting it done for a while is that i don't have the funds at this moment for all this stuff.
 
I just took off some stuck rail screws with a vise grips. Those screw heads are pretty meaty and hold the grips well.
 
chef I am in the proces of dipping my carbs for the first time and I've dipped the float needles. I noticed the little nipples look a little discolored. Are these damaged?
 
i tried using vise grips and they just chewed up the screw and slipped off no matter how tight i got them

If they are all metal they should be ok. I've never dipped mine because I always replaced them with new.
