A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been having an issue which I have seen on alot of posts with popping and missfiring and fouled plugs.
Another issue Im having at the same time is excessive fuel use. I have gone through half my gas tank (like a 4.2 gallon) only going 40 miles. That comes out to about 20mpg (I can do math!)
I do not have stuck floats. I have cleaned the carbs (not sure how good of a job I did, first time and all). Does anyone have any suggestions. The weather is awesome for riding and I cant!

Oh I almost forgot. The #1 plug gets fouled and the rest are fine.

You may have a bad o-ring on the float valve on the number 1 cyl. I had that happen on mine, and it would foul the plug on that cyl, and gas milage goes down, since you constantly dump gas thru that carb. Symptoms are a lot like a stuck float.

check for spark--you may have a bad wire. reverse the wires that are from the same coil as a test for a starting place.
.

Also make sure the petcock is not in the "prime" position, this can sometimes overwhelm the floats and cause flooding.

Re: excessive fuel use bad gas mileage

My inclination is that your petcock needs replacing or rebuilding because it is leaking badly. If your petcock works correctly then fuel cannot leak. But you have a leak. If your float needles seal correctly (even if the petcock is leaking), you cannot have a leak into the crankcase. Your float needles are leaking and need new "O" rings and should be checked to be sure they do seal. I would change the oil before I ran the bike again. You will instantly know if there is a lot of gas in the crankcase oil when you change it. I see no way there cannot be gas in your crankcase oil with your description.
