As described in my gauges posting, I bought my bike to use the engine on a dyno, and now am in the process of putting it back together. During the project, someone else (not me) cut the exhaust headers off to make a custom collector for the engine dyno
.
Now that I want to put the bike back together and ride, I'm faced with having to re-weld the exhaust back together. In your opinion, is it worth trying to weld the stock exhaust back together? Its in pretty fair shape, with some pitting, but not much rust at all (the bike hasn't been on the road since '96), and the cut is probably about 6" forward of the connector "H" pipe.
Also, I'm toying with the idea of custom-fabricating a 2-into-1 exhaust. Is it possible to get a muffler with the same back pressure as the stock system (like a Supertrapp, for example) that would not require me to re-jet the carbs?
Thanks!
