Hi guys im new here. But not new to gs bikes. I bought a 1979 gs750e from my uncle when i was 14 for 400 bucks. It was in perfect condition 1000 miles on it and not a single scratch. I bought it with the intention of building a bobber. But this bike was way to nice to chop up. I rodebit for a few years then maxe the idiotic decision to trade my amazing barn find for a beat up s10. Soni have been looking for a few years for a replacment that i wouldnt feel bad about cutting up. I found a 1978 gs750 non running on facebook in my home town for 200 bucks .i went and checked it out and for $130 bucks i tossed it in my truck and brought it home. It had been sitting for 6 years. I pulled the tank and to my suprise there isnt a spek of rust in there! The petcock was perfect fuel lines free carbs spotless. Bought a new ignition switch for $30 becasue the po lost the keys. Replaced the points and condenser s $30 Primed the carbs and it started it back fired and lit the air filter on fire haha. But it sounded gkeys!! Lubed the clutch cable and wouldnt you know it shifts now. Things on the to do list.when i have the cash. Dink with the timing. Replace front tube and tire, get new lock assembaly for the gas tank cover, again po lost keys. Powdercoat the rims and a few covers on motor. Mini apes, solo sadle , sportster rear fender, and tail light , sportster lowering shocks, new cables, fab up new sissy bar, get small turn signals . i hate the lollypops. Smaller gauges , custom exhaust re jet and pod filters. Paint and it should be done! Well to my liking. Would love imput. Ima handy guy but far from a mechanic. Ibjust love these gs series bikes. All the stock parts are in excellent condition and will be up for sale when i get replacments.

Thanks! I will. Been wanting to do something different for a while now.

Sorry guys im terrible at this technology stuff!! Would be easier if i hadnt traded my mac for a couple shotguns! Havnt done much yet sanded the frame and rattle canned it for rust prevention. Haha took off one of the mirrors 'cracked' and took off the engine guard!!

Well i have been pretty darn buisy havnt done allot to the gs. but i did take the mufflers off and the entire tail section going. To cut the frame down soon. Also picked up a heavy duty aluminum trailer fender at work for like 3 bucks and some really good vynyl to redo my seat for free. Then i saw somthin i couldnt pass up.... A 1978 Kawasaki ke250 2 stroke enduro in decent shape. He wanted 400 for it but i pulled out 150 cash and he took it! It will be on the back burner till i finishnthe 750. Butnits pretty slick

The 78 250 it will be fun. Clean title

Well ****.. Looks like i acidentally bid on a sportster seat for the gs.. And won. Damn beer. So ill use the vinyl on the kawi seat

Well in my search for a few parts for the 78 ke250 i stumbled upon a 1982 kl250 4stroke parts bike. The guy needed it out of his yard so he listed it for free! O had to drive a couple hours to get it. So i have 45 bucks into it. 40 for fuel. 5 for holding it for me. Its in pretty damn good shape great tires breaks cables lights gauges.... All going on the 78. My buddy offered me 100bucks for it after i steal the parts i want. Idk if ill hold onto it or not.

I cant complain its pretty slick for free. And seeing as this is the gs forums i have a bad ass harley sportster seat on the way and i got it running pretty well. Need to pick up some pods and rejet it for the pipes/future filters.

I honestly like it. But one enduro should suffice.

Slowly moving along. I built a bad ass little rear fender out of a aluminum trailer fender but it just wasnt working out. The seat i chose left a huge gap where it should have met the fender. And i got sick of hacking peices off of the fender so i just cut the tail end off the stock plastic one and the seat fits pretty well in the rear. I have to trim the front to sit flush because i dont want to cut and narrow the double wishbone frame=_(. Had to stop for the night back at her tomorrow
