DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Isn't stock main jet size 107.5 and you say you have 112's with no pipe or airbox mods? What about the pilots are they 45's or? Wouldn't that be a bit rich on the top end with 112's?

I heard people mention here about the gas tank vent line being clogged and or the gas cap itself. Maybe try with the cap off.

Putting a hand or the airbox is an attempt to richen the mixture temporarily and would lead me to ponder if the tank is supplying enough fuel to the carbs.

How did you bypass the petcock?

I had a black 750ET back in the day, it was my first bike.

My coils went bad and caused my bike to bog at 5000 grand intermittently and foul plugs.

I'd say keep plugging away at it, but don't call it a POS. Not good karma.

I'm just throwing out ideas to chew on.

I am not sure about the jet's. I was told by someone that 112.5 are stock. I really dont know what the pilot jets where, I couldn't see a number on them. I don't know about the 112.5, but they said 112 for the main, 170 for the air.

I bypassed the petcock with a funnel and fuel line. IM out of ideas and patience. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Yeah, I thought of using them as bobbers at one point but I don't think fish like the smell of gas. Don't blame em...

At least you would get some kind of use out of them.

Other uses:

Hang from auto's rear view mirror like dice.

Use to replace that leaky toilet float.

Stick a toothpick and a triangular piece of paper for a sail & give 'em to your kid as bath toys.

you should check that the float valve seat o- ring is sealing. It's cheap to replace and if they don't seal ( like mine didn't) the float valve and level is bypassed and fuel just keeps flowing past the seat, regardless of any other issue.

Mixture Screws

Mixture Screws

This is a message for Keith , you say the screws should be move out 1 1/2 turns, I just rekitted my '81 GS850GL carbs and turned mine out 2 1/2 turn and it seems to run good with this initial settings. What should I be leary of with these screws out so much & I'm not much of a carb guy.
Do these needle valves provide a fine tuning feature?
