A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hello peoples,
I own a 83 1100g, Ive only had it now for about 6 weeks. In that time it has always had a mild misfire at around 3500 revs and sometimes under, nothing bad but it was there. Now the bike has developed this through out the entire rev range. Before this it idled perfectly at just over 1000 revs but since this happened ( suddenly) it just ticking over at about 600. It does not pull cleanly at all when accelerating slow or hard though it tries. Before all this starting happening once i got it over 3500 it pulled like a train. Prior to me buying the bike was ridden about a dozen times in 2 years. I have done 1600 kays before this started happening...Any Advice would be great?????

Sounds like the perfect time for a good carb cleaning and refurbishment.

Don't bother with "carb rebuild kits", just get the o-ring kit from cycleorings.com.

By your terminology, I'm guessing you are not in the USA, so finding the recommended can of Berryman's Carb Cleaner Dip might be difficult.
Not sure what others are using in its place.

.

Maintenance is a good thing and never a waste of time. Go though the carbs like Steve suggests and replace the intake boot O-rings too. And while you are at it I suggest adjusting the valves, sealing the airbox, cleaning the air filter, etc.

OK service the carbs it is.. before and midway photos...
will keep u updated...Thanks peoples.
It was a pretty GS wasn't it...?

Good start! Make sure to remove the rubber carb "boots" since there is a large O-ring between the head and the boot that usually leaks.

The airbox end caps have foam that typically deteriorates. Now is a good time to replace that too - weatherstripping works well.

Keep up the good work!:)

Is there any place i can order these intake boots? ive ordered the o rings for them but some new boots would also be handy???

Im located in Australia. our parts stores dont carry them. anyway of ordering them in from the states? websites.....?

I think BikeBandit is cheaper for them, mine were about $14 each. Not sure about shipping but I think its $8

Bike Bandit might be cheaper but there are too many issues with their service. Try Z1, GSSuzuki, or any of the ones Basscliff gave you in your welcome packet.

carb boots

carb boots

Im in melbourne
I got a set of boots from adelaide 3 years ago cost me over $200 I cant remember the name of the company
Just get them from z1 enterprizes if you absolutely need them
With the Aussie dollar parity you cant go wrong but airmail can take a while (customs)
Nice bike Shafty

Hi,

I'll try to help a little. :o

The Suzuki OEM part numbers for #26 and #27 (left side and right side are different):

PIPE, INTAKE RH (x2)
13110-49100

PIPE, INTAKE LH (x2)
13120-49100

You'll find a fairly complete list of our favorite vendors on the READ ME page of my little website, although you cant' go wrong giving Z1 a call. Be sure to check shipping costs, some may not even ship to AU. The intake O-rings (#28) can be had from http://cycleorings.com when you order the carb O-ring kit.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

any aussie knows roughly how long it takes to get stuff sent from the states.....zzzzzz still waiting.

ok!!
got the o rings finally, thanks everyone for sending out the bulk xmas cards it really slowed the other important mail down...

so.... its sat 11pm the girlfiend says goodnight i grunt next thing its 2.30 in the morning and there back together!!. So i leave the shed/lounge and crash out. And no Iam not naked.
sunday its the final thrash, all goes in well except the fraying choke cable snaps..
starting took a bit, bat was flat so it was too the hills we went..4 hills latter i realised one of the switches was in the off position...argh... another 2 hills (thanks babe) it fired and ran!!
but,
it idles great but has no pull, i was able to ride around the back streets recharging the battery, but as soon as i gave it a bit of throttle it felt like it had the choke on.. and would surge and back fire. Allowing the bike to roll down hills no throttle it wouldnt back fire and seamed to run smooth.
so .... idle Good, rolling down from speed no throtle Good, but accelrating even in small amounts and she would fart and surge. Ideas gs gods?
also this is what the plugs looked like after the 15 min ride,

so let me have it people....type the goodness...
