A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Any resources you recommend on finding Bandits? Just looking now since you posted everything in coming in mid 2 grand or so.

maximum suzuki is a forum with bandits on it, they tend to be on the higher end price wise there, but craigslist is amazing for finding buys. even if you have to drive a ways. there was one on here for 1k obo up here in maine for a while. I could help with one that is up in my neck of the woods to.

EDIT:

I don't know where in NY you are but here:

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/2034991481.html <-- That's a 600 which he changed the headlights but has all original front end parts. $1400

Well for now I'm calling San Diego home, still couch surfing as I have been since I left NY in August :-p

HI Chronos,

Wow, that is one big nasty bruise.

I'm glad you're OK and will ride again. That GS1100GL looks pretty good and, except for the small gas tank, should be able to get you down the slab a little better than your GS650. I would try to negotiate down a few hundred if I had to replace the fork seals and service the cam chain tensioner right away. But $1500 is not totally out of the ballpark. Bikes sell more slowly in the winter so the owner may be willing to negotiate.

I don't know if you have a desire to repair your 650, but putting a new front end on it shouldn't be too expensive. As long as the frame isn't bent, it looks like it is repairable. New bars, forks, gauges, etc, and you should be good to go. But then you'll have to find forks on ebay and wait for parts from vendors. I don't know what your time schedule is.

Anway, it's good you were wearing gear and you walked away without major injury. I hope you heal quickly and are able to get back to your plans.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I'm staying around Clairemont Mesa in SD, I'm debating fixing the bike, the biggest issue I have is I don't really have the facilities to work on it here. Add on top of that that there was some engine stuff I was starting to worry about that I wrote about beforehand and part of me just wants to wash my hands and move on. I kinda see you as a Yoda here Basscliff so any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. :) Especially given that I just realized I've read your own crash story and restoration of Jessie. Oh and also lost a rear peg and the tank is dented to hell

Hi Cronos, glad you survived your get-off as well as you did. Congratulations on being smart enough to invest in good gear. I wrecked my GS650G in a very similar manner to yours a couple years ago. Through Ebay I was able to aquire the parts I needed and in an afternoon had it back together and street ready for less than $500 including replacing the forks, triple trees, guage mount bracket, headlight assembly, turn signals, mirrors, and the under fender fork brace. All it takes are some basic tools and a bottle jack if your bike has a center stand. I can understand your desire to cut your losses and start fresh with a different bike. Keep in mind you will be paying 3x what it takes to fix your 650 and still need a place to work and the same basic tools to pull the forks to change the seals.

Good luck which ever way you decide.

glad to hear you are ok, pretty blue purpel leg you got, good gear is a must, regards clance g
