    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi everybody. I've owned bikes all my life but just recently bought my first GS1100e. Always thought they were cool when i was a kid and always wanted one. This is an 82 with just under 5000 miles on it. Everything completely original except the paint and tires. Still has the stickers on the plug wires telling which cylinder they belong. Was wondering if there is anyone in midwest illinois that has the knowledge that i lack. Would like to do sum preventive maintenance. Bike runs great but ive noticed a few loose bolts here and there. Thanks

Are some members in Illinois, but I cant say if any would be mid-west.

There are several GSR members in Illinois, as well as in surrounding States. I am sure someone will soon offer to help you.

Meanwhile, please post any concerns you have, and you will get answers pretty quickly. There are specific thread topics for different issues, such as mechanical or electrical and there is a wealth of information in the older threads, which you can find if you use the search tool for them.
 
Hello, I'm close... like 30 minutes away! Geneseo, Il. I'm not sure I have much knowledge but I sure have a love for GS's! I currently have 3 and have had 9 or so through the years... I use Klemme Performance Motorcycle in Davenport for all my engine work, I only do light maintenance and lots of cleaning. Always good to meet another local GS enthusiast. Come spring I plan on hitting the drag strip a few times, maybe we could get together for a little ride. Rons Phone pics 160.jpg

I'm a little more northern IL, near Rockford area. But I own an 83 GS1100E an 82 I'm turning into a drag/street bike (slowly) and 2 750s. I love these old Suzuki's and like seeing em on the road. Unfortunately getting ready to store mine but if ya got any questions or need to know how something goes let me know. My 83 is a one owner and is pretty much stock. Welcome to the forum :)

I have taken a look to see where Galva Illinois is.

And.... For your information, I can tell you that you are 330 miles from Bedford Indiana.
(keep an eye open in Meeting Place for next years Brown COunty rally).

As you have seen, there are a few within "striking distance", but there are many of us here that are willing to share what we know, even though some might be several thousand miles away. Don't be afraid to ask what might seem to be a silly question, they are a LOT easier to handle than stupid mistakes.

I have been all over the state of Illinois over the years, but don't remember Galva.
Looked it up, found that I have been all around you: Galesburg, Kewanee, Ottawa, Peru, Peoria.
If I did go through Galva, I just don't remember it. :oops:
