    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

First time pulled over on the bike

Yeah I was figuring on about a hundred bucks. Pretty grateful to get a warning. And always glad I'm not in Jersey ;)
 
The only time in 36 years of M/C riding that I pulled over was in a RIDE (reduce impaired driving everywhere) check. There are a lot of M/C cops on our roads and a lot seem to be into bikes, so all they wanted to do was to talk about my bike. They're usually pretty decent , I know a few of them through my excavating business ,so I just ask them how so and so is doing and that changes the whole conversation.
 
Was pulled over once on the bike, doing 70 in a 55. No warning. He was very polite as he handed me my ticket. I was very polite as I took it.

The way I see it is if you get pulled over and the cop was going to give you a little talking to and let you go, if you're an AH about it, he probably will just write a ticket instead. If you're pleasant and he writes a ticket, the cop probably isn't going to apologize and take it back because you're being an AH. :D

When he said "Do you promise to pay attention to the school zones and not speed?" a part of me wanted to say "What if I say 'no'?" but I didn't want to get a ticket. Part of me wanted to ask "How many people tell you 'no, I don't promise that'?" but I didn't want to push my luck.

I didn't mention it before, but yes, I was wearing my armored riding jacket (which is schoolbus colored) and a helmet emblazoned with reflective stickers.
 
I think most cops, especially those that ride, understand our situation. We have every right to ride our bikes. We pay just as much in taxes and registration fees as a guy driving a new Benzo. Yet most of the laws, roads, light switches, etc are set up for cars. Most of the people in those cars pay no attention period, let alone pay attention to us. So the rules and odds are already stacked against us.

A while back I was headed to work on the bike. Entered the freeway, and almost immediately had some screw ball cut me off. I changed lanes and sped up a little... She tried to pinch me off again so I jumped out into the fast lane and hammered it. As I looked, I saw a Statie with his radar pointed right at me standing under an overpass. I looked down, I was doing 110 mph. I'm smoked. I'm gonna lose my license. I started to slow down and watch for his lights. Never happened. He never came after me. I think maybe, and this may not be the case but I like to pretend it is, he saw what was happening, that I was trying to evade some idiot who was more or less trying to kill me, and not out stunting or whatever...and let me go.

Or maybe Essie was to stealthy to pick up on radar. Lol
 
I'we been pulled over a few times in the last 20 years,mostly on Angeles Crest.One time i tore up there in a pretty brisk clip,when i rode past a CHP in a Bronco(they using those in mountaneous areas here).I knew he will come after me since my headlight was turned off due to bad charging and you must have it on up there.So i had to wait for him to catch up with me with that sled,pulled over(could'we just keep riding,he would never caught me),and he told me my headlight is off.he said if i can fix it he would let me go,so i did.He let me go,never mentioned my speed:D.
Long before that i was with my GSXR,flew past the CHP,never saw him,so apparently he was chasing me for at least five miles when he finally radioed ahead and another CHP pulled in front of me.He asked me if i think this is a race track,but he never gave me a ticket for speeding either only for passing at the yellow line. Nice guys.:)
 
The first and only time I got pulled over on my motorcycle the cop was on foot ;). Road was closed and they gave me and my neighbor a $175 ticket for riding in a residential area where they had black topped (local access only).

Cop did not buy we were trying to get home (3 miles away). :o

It's so effortless isn't it? And it's almost creepy how smooth she is at high speed. She seems to live for those moments when she can stretch her legs at full gallop. I miss her. I'm glad you're enjoying her Greg. You seemed to have that same smile I had when riding her.

But, as much as I loved that bike, Rex is everything and then some. I have to really mind the speedo on it, as 35mph is only 3500 in second gear and at 4200 in 5th she's doing 75-80mph. :eek: Ticket machine for sure.
Still learning her little quirks, not quite as comfortable in the twisties as I was on the ES, but I'll get there before seasons end I'm sure.
 
yeah, 90 on the es feels like 65 on my 750. i have been TRYING to work on my self-restraint....but like you said, it is too effortless.
 
two years ago I was going downhill on a snowy day on Halloween day in Montana. The ground was covered with snow and I was going to work on my bike since I left the head lights on as usual on the Jeep. I was pulled over doing 18 in 15mph school zone. My odometer was dead on 15 but apparently not.
This guy wasn?t all there, as he asked me if I worked for UPS. I was in full brown uniform (UPS) and my ID badge was hanging from my jacket. I could have smiled and made him happy with an apology but I just couldn?t. I told him no officer. This is my Halloween outfit; I like to ride around in snow at 7 in the morning just for the fun of it. He wrote me an $80 ticket. Sometimes you just can?t shut up.

Around here, that kind of language means that lots of cops have been told to snag anyone possible for some particular violation, and nail the violators to the wall.
 
I got pulled over on my gs500 once. I bombed an on ramp and was doing about 75 when i got on the xway. I wasnt beign reckless, just cautious since most traffic around here does 70-75 in a 55. But my luck had run out and i merged in front of a cop and didnt notice him. He pulled me over. When he came up to my bike, he took the key out of my ignition and pocketed it. He told me he didnt want me running of and tryign to evade him and wrecking. Apparently, a kid he pulled over a week before me crashed tryign to evade him. Thing is, the cop never gave chase. he just took off when the cop went to go back to for his car to run his record. so, after talkign about my bike and then about his tricked out r1, i got off with a warning. And the cop drove off. Well.....I didnt.....he forgot to give me my key, and i forgot he had it. He came back about 20 minutes later and gave me a bottle of water since it was 98 degrees out, and i had no shade. He was so embarrassed. Im not a dick, so i made nothing of it. i was just glad he realized it when he did, and not at shift change. he even wrote me a note and let me take a picture of him with my cell phone so i could give it to my boss, so explain why i was late. He came by my work later that day on his bike to make sure i didnt get into trouble. Nice guy. It also helps when you have family on the force (said cops LT) and your last name is very rare and recognizable.
 
Actually I've had good luck with the cops here in NJ.

Got pulled over for blowing threw a redlight and was doin 80 in a 55, in the Z28,:cool:.

Cop didn't even Run my License....he just wanted to check my Inspection Sticker, then let me go,:D.


Then I got pulled over Again for blowing a redlight on the GS.
Took the cop like 5 minutes to catch up with me...
He just gave me a verbal, and was smiling about it.


NJ also has a "no chase" rule here........:D
And no MC inspections either...


The cops here ARE corrupt though....they're all potheads....which is exactly what they're looking for.....100% true!
Everytime I get pulled over, they just shine their flashlight in my car, looking for weed/blunt. They don't see anything... so they just hand me my license back and walk off!!!

No joke....
