If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi, I have some questions, all Q s have to do with the installlation of the stock airbox etc.

1, I have 5 small holes in the bottom of each side of the airbox, they are about one quarter inch diameter each, they appear to be OEM, are they in fact, OEM, or should I tape them closed.

2, Is the snorkel imperitive to have on the back of the airbox, I foolishly took it off, and cant get it back on in ten minutes, I will get some help if necessary to have it in place. Is it possible to tape the hole on the airbox to simulate the intake size of the snorkel, such that it could be left off, maybe,? maybe not.?

3, I have three kinds of oil available to oil the filter media, marvel mystery oil, regular motor oil, and two stroke oil, which would be best or must I use official filter oil. The filter foam is not name brand, it just breathes well, I have an official filter media coming in a few days from ebay although its not uni or k n n.

4, How much oil should the filter foam have in it, is it to be squeezed such that no more can be squeezed out of it, or maybe left damper than that.

5, on another thread, I read that the KZ carb boots can be put on a GS1000 perfectly, can they be installed on a GS 1100 and fit everything. I like the idea of having vac vents on the boots themselves.

Thanks in advance.

OEM, leave as is

I would put it back on, the airbox flow is designed for it to be there

Regular motor oil is fine

Oil lightly, work it in, squeeze out the excess. Do not twist the filter, it will put small tears in it.

Not sure about the fitment, the OEM ones have the ports with the allans and Z1 sells the adapters with covers if you want them for ease of synching the carbs.

I think the KZ boots work with the VM carbs on the early GS1000s. If I'm right, they won't fit your CV carbs.

thanks guys !!

Hi TWR and HSH,
Thanks a lot for the info, I put the airbox on with dry foam and no snorkel, the bike now runs more like an eleven, and less like an anemic 500 or whatever. I will get the filter oiled right and get the snorkel back on like it should be. I have to construct mounts for the airbox since the hardware is missing for that. It sure makes an amazing difference from the pods that I had there before. I changed out those shortie muff earsplitters for some prime almost NOS sportster mufflers, ah thats better, almost too quiet.
