Just started tearing down my forks last night for my rebuild. Sonic springs arrive today, I feel like a kid before Christmas!
I was quite shocked when I drained my forks to see what came out: gray, thick, nasty fork oil. And not much of it! I didn't actually measure the volume but I'd be surprised if it was much over a cup of the stuff. Is this typical? I'm guessing I am the first to change the oil.
I pulled the springs out and will remove the damper tonight (bolts willing) but was wondering if I should flush the forks with kerosene or something before adding fresh oil? The forks are currently draining upside down...
