    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I posted another thread about no spark...well, as advised I installed the DynaS and it did start. So that's good. But...


When it started it started spewing an oil and gas mixture out of the breather tube at top of the engine. I mean a foamy petroleum fountain; blowing all over the driveway. Now, I'm going to guess that something is gummed up that is restricting the oil flow from the cam shafts back down to the crankcase.

The fuel/oil mixture could just be because it's been sitting for a long time. I guess I can deal with that after I get the flow issue.

Do any of you have a suggestion as to where I should look first?

You say oil and gas... This is symptomatic of a vacuum petcock leaking into the #2 carb through the vaccuum line and filling the crankcase, from what I hear around here. Not uncommon for them to go bad, just not so spectacularly.

Or at some past point left in the prime position for an extended period. For all we know, the PO left it on prime for 3 years in storage, noticed it, and turned it back to on (after it already fouled the oil).

If it was me, I'd dump the oil, refill with cheap stuff and some seafoam, run it about 10 minutes (hopefully without a petroleum product fountain this time), dump the oil again, and replace both the oil and filter.
 
I had almost exactly the same thing happen when we were trying to get my 650 started prior to tearing the carbs apart... was a mess, but we finally decided that it must have been a petcock left in prime while it was in storage.
 
The oil/gas mix I can understand; Leaking from the carbs.

It's the 'petroleum fountain' I'm really asking about. I assume the oil flow from the cams down to the crankcase is somehow impeded. I'm going to look at the oil filter first as an obvious and easy fix, but I wondered if anyone else had run across that exact problem and had some insight.

If I hadn't taken the airbox off first, it would have saturated the filter and filled the box. Nasty mess. I'm talking about maybe 1/2 GALLON of fuel/oil mix spewing out of the breather. (On the good side, I guess that confirms the oil pump is working)
 
And they are talking about the oil/gas mixture spewing from the breather. Your case is now OVERFULL because of the amount of gas in the oil. It has to go somewhere, and the breather is the only easy way out. Do what is suggested, dumping the oil, add some cheap stuff, and seafoam, run it for about 10 minutes, dump it again, change the filter, refill with oil and problem will likely be solved.
