I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

fram oil filter?

Hi Mr. kevinwcarr,

Fram filters have a reputation for being made really cheaply. But, like your oil, if you change it often enough, it doesn't really matter what you use. Personally, I buy the HiFlo Filtro (HF133) from Bike Bandit in lots of 5 or 10 (saves on shipping). See the oil change guide on my site for other brands/part numbers.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

The Fram filters are some of the very WORST made you can get. They sell LOTS because they ADVERTISE lots! Even when Vance & Hines was PAID by Fram & doing their commercials back in the early 80s, Byron used STOCK Suzuki filters. Take it for what your engine is worth! Ray.

Just to let you know I was checking your website for cross referencing oil filter #'s.
thanks

I will not use a Fram filter. Anthing else in a pinch, but not a Fram. I buy Hi Flo filters in quantity.

Fram PH6018
Normal filter paper, and a decent amount of it.
yours doesn't have paper end caps, so no worries there. spin on filter i'd think twice about it.

WIX 51359
Filter media in short supply.

there are better filters out there, but should you stay away? no....

***http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1646*** o-ring not included

That isn't a "study". It's an examination by some guy who bought a few filters. A study would have tested filtering ability. I've read lots of nasty comments about Fram filters, but not one of them has any real information about longevity or filtering ability.

might you be confusing study with testing?
maybe its me...

I don't use fram filters on my car, but I kind of like them on the bike. Mainly because they're cheap and they give you new o-rings

Lately, the HiFlo HF133 I've been getting from BikeBandit has both o-rings included, for 3 bolt and 4 bolt covers.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Fram oil filters

A long time ago there was one of these "threads" [on some other website] in which someone took apart a Fram filter and discovered a "paper" end piece and concluded it was a lousy filter. Someone then wrote in saying that that "paper" end piece was actually a _____ end piece and perfectly fine, and that Fram filters are at the least good enough. For whatever this is worth. I used Frams all the time back in the '80s when I had my first GS850G, and they were just fine. I TRIED using them after I got my first used GS850G down here [in 2004], and discovered that NOW the Fram filter Fram sez fits the ['81] GS850G, DOESN'T -- it's a tiny bit longer, and when I put it on, the oil-filter cover of the Zook can't go on enough to get the bolts through the holes.... So I went to the nearest Suzuki dealer and bought genuine Suzuki filters and discovered...they're now CHEAPER to buy than the Frams! :-)

I'd say they are probably fine as others have said if you change regularly, BUT with OEM filter available and cheap why would anyone not use it.

i have been selling auto parts for over twenty years we sell fram&group 7 we used to carry pennzoil i have never seen a problem with anyone of them i use fram cause its what i have available to me as long as it,s changed regularly it should be fine
