A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

From a sow's ear..

If its the same guard as was on my 78 1000E, You can have one I messed up painting. (dust-sand scratches)

Thanks, that's a very generous offer. Are you talking about the one you painted with the PPG? Looks pretty nice. You sure you want to let go of it?

Stunning work as always Larry, absolutely beautiful.

Got the disks all mounted up..took it for a ride, and even though it doesn't really have better braking power then the stock rotors, it sure as hell looks cool..

They will in the wet, where it counts. ;)

Come on, Larry..... Let's have some fun, put those mirrors on Ebay as a pair and let's see what happens.:D

Yes, the same one I painted with Shopline. The plan was to redo it this spring until fkvn gave me a perfect one off His 78.

If you want it, PM me you address and I'll ship it out

Man oh man that bike looks sweet! I have a (sort of) related question to ask:

What size front tire is that? And how do you like those Continentals? I was leaning towards the Pirelli SDs but those looks sweet...

Thanks for the compliment on the bike, I appreciate that. The front tire is a 110/90x19. I really liked the "look" of these tires, too, like slicks with a tread pattern, and they came highly recommended from a hot-shoe friend of mine. But to be honest, they're not quite what I had hoped for. They never have given me a confident feeling the way a set of (my favorite tires) Michelin Macadam 50's did. They always feel a little slippery when banked over on them..never fully "planted". They're not crap by any means, but I think the next set will be Pirelli's, Avons, or another set of Michelins if I can even find them..which was one of the problems I faced originally when buying this set.

Believe me, I've thought about it, Rich, but the prices they seem to go for actually put me out of bidding range if I ever do need to replace one, or both. I could never afford the insane prices these things seem to go for, and the supply is only getting more limited. I was stoked to find a cheap pair that I could restore. It would be fun to see what they'd go for, though..:twistedevil:

As the stock mirrors are only good for checking your shoulders for dandruff,
I am going to be using something like these on my Cooley fairing:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/29062905903...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_4536wt_1165

And would really prefer to use these readily available Suzuki items that also work better and even look stock:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/30059689201...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1180

They sure look like they mount very similarly and would not break your heart if they were to be damaged or stolen.
There are probably other sets available out there that work better and look better on the bike IMHO.

Boy, those both look good, and look like they'd work. Nice to know there's something to use as an alternative. You're absolutely right about the stock mirrors. They're worthless unless all you want to see are your shoulders. But, they're correct. I was riding a friend of mine's Honda RC51 the other day and noticed the mirrors on that bike would probably mount up, too, plus, I could actually see behind me. It might behoove anyone to stash the stockers away and go for something like the ones you've shown if for no other reason then safety's sake.

Exactly Larry.
Either keep the stockers to install when/if you take the bike to a show or sell them and fund another project. ;)

Eric

Larry,

The drilled discs look great on your bike! Like you say, it's all in the details!

Larry,

If you've never tried them I would recommend Pirelli Sport Demons. They're simply the most confidence inspiring bias ply tire I have ever used. The wear isn't great but the grip is outstanding. Avon RoadRiders get much better life but don't have the 'feel' of the Sport Demons.

Thanks,
Joe
