DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I would like to if a complete frontend from an 86 GSXR750 will fit my 82 GS1100e. Is there a site that I can goto to reference this swap. Has anyone completed this swap, any pics.

Please Help, I don't want to buy these parts if they wont fit.

Thanks
Tee

This is the look I am going for in the attachment. This is not my bike just a pic I found on the net to help get my point accross.

I don't know about fitting the 86 front ends-
I would imagine it would fit no problems, providing you get the "Entire Assembly" top yoke + bottom yoke + forks, wheels etc.

I know a complete mid 90's gsxr front end fit my 1980 gs1100 with no problems, was 15 mins swap as an assembly-

No need to find a site, it is an unbolt, bolt up swap. Two concerns though;
1. check if the steering stops match up, you may need to create new ones.
2. An 86 GSXR front end is not much if any better than a GS front end, this is because just like a GS it is "only" a damper rod setup,You would be better served to look at a 90-ish model front end as it is a cartridge damper, much improved suspension etc.

With any front end swap fork length is important, dont want your exhaust dragging on the ground going straight. Anr always lok at things like steering stops etc.

Here is the frontend I intend to use

Did you happen to watch Speed TV last night 9:00 - 10:00. The show is called Superbikes. They had GSXR front ends on everything. Cool show that will probably be aired again. Check the Speed TV schedual.

The '86 front end isn't going to be much better than the GS. '89 up would be better. I have an '88 on my bike now and will be upgrading to a '95 GSXR inverted fork in a CBR954 triple clamp. Check the Performance section for a long how to thread by katman. It has a sticky and is at the top of the performance page.
