A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've most certainly got a guardian angel with a twisted sense of humor. I bought my Dynojet kit, got it installed, balanced out the carbs, and took a friend off to a small get together at a mutual friends' house. Guy at the party backs his new BMW into my bike, and breaks the sidestand off, and my bike is lying on the ground pouring gas outta the tank. Unfortunately my bike got hit, fortunately I wasn't on it when it happened. My life story in a nutshell.
Bike ran fine all the way home, cosmetic damage to left side engine case, tank covered in gas stains. But the front end seemed a little off plumb.... Left hand was farther forward than the right hand on the ride home. No rubbing, no binding of brakes, no flopping of bent tires or rims. No visual damage other than a big scuff mark on the paint on my right front fork tube. (bottom half.)
I need to inspect my front end, specifically the forks, but I'm at a bit of a loss... Where should I start? I was thinking after I get my stand welded tomorrow, that I should support the bike, get the front end loosened up and make sure I get get it back square again. If this was a BMX bike, I'd be all set. Grab the front tire with your Knees and twist the bars!
Learned panel, what things should I inspect and look for? The tubes didn't appear to be bent, but that was very early this morning before I went to work. Any input is welcome.

Thanks,

Yup, same thing. You might however have to loosen the triple clamp bolts unless you're REALLY strong. Then check for binds in the sliders by bouncing the front with the brake on. If there's no binds or fork oil leaks you're probably alright.

i have a set of complete fork legs if you need them. ill let them go for cheap

Thanks for the input and support! I did have the front end apart when I repainted my forks and installed gaitors and I did one smart thing out of anal retentiveness.... I put sharpie marks on the forks where they attach at the triple. So when I put them back together, I could rotate them into the exact location they were prior to taking them apart. I can now go back and look over my markings to have at least a starting point. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'll be loosening up the triple after I get my stand welded back on, and go from there.

Thanks!
