A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello Forum,
So I need to replace my F M/C sight glass. Just the "lens" is bad...the body of the unit (the metal part) is OK. I see many rebuild kits offer a plug to replace the sight glass, which would be fine, but the M/C doesnt need rebuilt and I dont want to spend $40 for the plug.
I read on a Goldwing (I know, I know...) that guys were using super glue, or 2 part epoxy. The up-side of the super glue (cyanoacrylate) is that I have it in high quanity and high quality, and could literally fill the "disc" with CA and polish it like glass. I think the epoxy might be more durable but I have little experience working with it.

Any suggestions? Maybe someone bought a rebuild kit and isnt using the plug? Thanks!!

There were threads posted on here about using glass cut into round circles, using Lexan, and even using watch crystals. Do a search. It's been a year or two ago.

I checked it out...nice site he has. Unfortunetly his prices are, in my opinion, ridiculous. Even with the exchange rate it would cost $36+shipping. Thanks though Pete.

Thanks Kent. I just started looking, so I'm sure a search will turn something up.

No worries mate, over here that pricing is excellent by the time you factor in materials and the fact that it's not mass manufactured (and it's done more as a favour than a business).

Well it's excellent work too that he does, but I can buy a complete rebuild kit for that price.
I think I'm gonna try to do the CA or epoxy thing. I dont care if the sight glass is functional, as I can never see anything in them anyway, and this is most definitely NOT a concourse resto......
