If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Front Rotor Swap

Hi to all, I am interested in swapping the front O.E.M. brake rotors and calipers on my 1982 GSX1100S Katana for a set of floating slotted brake rotors and the calipers from a 1985 GS1150. I don't have a photo to show - sorry. I have used the "Search" here and it does not list this rotor/caliper swap.

Does anyone know for sure if this is a straight swap for the rotors and calipers?

Thank you in advance for your help, cheers.

Not positive but I don't believe it is a direct swap,
Salty Monk has a brake up grade using 900 Fireblade rotors and Kawasaki Calipers though . Use the search function it should come right up.

Yes, I have read Salty Monk's post on the brake up grade. The upgrade involves a Fireblade rotor swap and also changing the calipers. I am wanting to keep it an all Suzi swap so I am hoping it is a bolt off- bolt on deal? Could I be that lucky?

Cheers.

Yes, the rotors from the later bike are a straight swap onto the 1100 Katana.

Same internal diameter, bolt hole circumference and offset. The '84 GSX1100 is 275.5mm in diameter while the OEM Katana are 275mm. Not enough of a difference to be noticeable.

Hi Postman Pat, thanks for confirming the rotors are a straight swap. I am still trying to find out if the oppossed piston calipers from the 84/85 GSX1100E (US - GS1150E) will bolt straight on to the Kat forks. With the rotors being the same working diameter I am thinking the calipers should have the same contact footprint. Now to find out if the bolt mounts are the same and if the caliper will clear the spokes.

Cheers.
