DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Front wheel compatibility?

I recently noticed a slight wobble in the front wheel of my '81 GS650G when making slow sweeping turns. The tire was pretty worn so I figured I would pull it off, check the bearings and get a new tire put on. Today, the shop mounted the new tire, but they said that they could not get the wheel balanced and suspected a bent wheel.

Are there other suzi wheels that are the same as the '81 GS650? I noticed there are a number of wheeels from GS550s and GS750s on ebay that look similar to mine.

Yes, lots of wheels will fit. Though... I just so happen to have an 1982 GS650G wheel sitting here. I'm willing to let it go... Make me an offer? PM it :-)

I also have a GS550 wheel I'd let you have, it's a slightly different style of wheel, but it's just as compatable. Just so you have a choice.

I would change shops if i was you. If they cant tell a bent wheel from a out of balanced one, there crap. If you still have the wheel out spin it on the axle and see if it is bent that way or place it back in bike and put on centre stand and jack/raise the front and turn the wheel to see if it moves back and forth between the forks. Most wheels will fit youres as a lot of early suzi's have the same sizes

I think you can even put GSXR wheels on. :-) At least the first generation or two. And, just for fun. you can swap complete front ends from anything from a 77gs through a hayabusa IIRC... Suzuki got the headstock right, and decided they didn't need to change the bearings from then on out.

Thanks all.

I talked to the guy at the shop today--he wasn't there when I picked up the wheels--and he said there is a very small flat spot in the wheel and he got it balanced *almost* perfectly, but thought it was best to pick up a used wheel.

Now that I think about it, I did hit a huge pothole at about 35MPH one rainy night (almost threw me from my bike), and that was about the time the slight wobble/vibration began.
