As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello, my 1980 GS550L has one carb that is leaking fuel through the air filter. Without the bike running, if the fuel line shut off valve is open fuel will slowly leak out of the air filter on the same side as the stand. Not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions? I am at a loss for what might be happening. Carbs look clean, jets look clean. I need to replace the gaskets once they come in the mail but I just don't think that is the issue? Any advice is welcome. I will admit I am a newbie . Thanks.

I believe that your fuel valve at the tank is leaking. Disconnect it at the tank and plug in a short section of tubing to a can or something. Watch for fuel leaking, there should be none unless the engine is running since it is a vacuum operated valve. If there is no leakage, pull the vacuum line from the #2 carb and check for leakage there as well, there should be none.

When you install the new float gaskets, check your float needles and seats as well. You can download a manual for your bike, the link can be found on the sites home page, the page with the BOM bike.

You will need to replace your petcock. The concensus on this site is that the best choice is OEM from Suzuki because although you will pay more than aftermarket, they will last for many years and the potential consequence of fuel in your oil may be serious damage to your engine. Speaking of which, check your oil for fuel smell because it has probably leaked down the cylinders as well.

You undoubted have a leaking needle valve as well.

Thanks for the tips! I will check tonight to see if the fuel line is leaking and check the oil for any signs of gas getting in there. Petcock is leaking so I will need to replace that soon. Will return with some updates. thanks again.
