    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi all,

I have a question concerning my GS1100GL. I start the bike and everything runs fine, but after about 5 minutes, all electronics on the instrument cluster go out (as well as the turn signals). The headlight however is still on.

I checked the fusebox and sure enough the main 10 amp fuse is blown. I replace it, but only get another 5 minutes (average).

Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to go about repairing?

I would check the wires inside the headlite make sure they are not touching metal
 
Also check your horns. They are on the same circuit, but are live as soon as the key is turned on, and work when the horn button is pressed to ground them.
 
On the subject of fuses I have a Dumb question to ask. What voltage should all the fuses be. I think mine say 35V maybe 32. But they are all of the correct amperage.

Checked horn and headlight wiring and all contact points. Everything seems to be in order. This is driving me crazy. Any and all help is appreciated..... I just blew another 10 amp fuse in under 4 minutes.

Robert, I don't think the time it takes to blow the fuse is a factor. Try to determine if it blows when you are doing anything in particular. That could give us a hint to what is causing it to blow. There has to be something that is drawing too much current. I don't think it will just continue to draw more and more current until it blows. It could if something is heating up, causing the resistance to increase, but I don't think it likely. Right after it blows, try to feel around for any hot spots. Good luck. I know it's frustrating. You'll find it.

On my GS750, all fuses are 10 amp EXCEPT the main fuse, it is specified 15 amp. Is there a possibility you are just using the wrong capacity fuse and everything else is actually just fine?
