A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

G&S Suzuki

I ordered caliper seals, cancelled them a week later after no response and a vague "They're on order" phone response, called to verify cancellation when I hadn't received my refund, then saw that they were shipped on the 15th. I'm out $50, might get seals I don't need anymore, and will have to pay shipping and a 35% restock fee if they ever show up.

And this is why I hate dealerships.

And this is why I hate dealerships.
And that is why cancelling an order that involves a middle man usually has problems.

Did you not know that they (and all the others) have to order parts from a Suzuki warehouse, then ship them on to you?

Once you place your order, they turn around and relay that to the warehouse. You cancel, they are stuck with stock they don't need. :o
Cancelling an order after only one week REALLY messes up their routine.

.

Yea, none of these places stock anything. Once they get an order they relay it over to Suzuki. Some are faster than others though, and some communicate better than others. One of the reasons I've ordered so many parts from Bike Bandit is because there is a warehouse close to their shipping location and they get the parts both in and out very quickly. You pay a little more, but their shipping cost is lower than most and they receive parts fast and turn them around the fastest of any OE part supplier I've found.

I've noticed that BB ships OEM parts orders pretty quickly as well. G&S Suzuki has always been fine for me when I need more expensive items. Always about a week after ordering the parts arrived. BB ships from CA I think so it's still a long haul out to me and a good week to get my parts. It takes my local dealer 3-5 days to get parts too.

Also, remember that some parts chains were interrupted or delayed by the quakes in Japan. Is that still the case?

My complaints are with poor communication and sheisty business practice (confirmed with 2 phone calls that it was cancelled; they send it out and charge me anyways) and then inform me that I have to pay out 1/2 the cost of the parts to get a refund.

So thanks to how they run their show I have 3 outcomes:

Parts never show up I'm out $50, or
Parts show up, I return them and lose $25, or
Parts show up, I try to find someone to buy them.

I ordered the kits from Z1 for less money and had them in 3 days. And I'm in OR.

No, thanks to someone who orders parts then changes their mind.

Yes I work in dealership, yes I work in the parts department and yes I deal with people like you every day... once it's ordered it's ordered. if it's on back order it can be cancelled, if it's not, it can't.

and, there's two sides to every story.

Hey, if goobersmooch (who I was informed no longer works there) had told me it was going to be 3 weeks, I wouldn't have ordered them in the first place.

I agree with Ed about BikeBandit, especially being so close geographically. My order from G&S took well over a month and a half. Not that I needed the parts within the week but still slow. I will, however, give them another chance because maybe the time of year that I ordered, whatever the issue, others have seemed to have good luck with them and they are very competitively priced. If I need it yesterday though, have to go Bikebandit. :|

My bet is that the smaller shops wait to collect orders until they reach a level that reduces or eliminates shipping cost for them, or triggers a pricing discount. Places like BB already have the volume so they can be more consistent with their service.

I will never again order from G&S Suzuki. The parts are fine but the customer service is very poor. I sent several e-mails about my order (just wanting to know if it was in progress) and no responce. When I said I wanted to cancel over a week later they then said it was on it's way. Still nothing 4 days later. I don't care about the time as long as I know they are working on it.

I ran into that when I lived in BFE Missouri. The dealer had to wait until he had a couple hundred bucks in orders before he could process requests. I don't remember the exact amount I was quoted but I think it was like $200. Made it a pain to get anything from them when I was just getting a few odds and ends. Also, they only put in their order on Wednesday. It was quicker to use Bike Bandit, and usually a lot cheaper as well.

I have had parts take a month from Bike Bandit... They always got me what I needed.
IF I need something quick I order from local dealer....

I ordered from these guys recently. Took I think 12 days to recieve including weekends. Only problem was that the clutch cover gasket was the wrong one.
They tried to tell me that it couldn't be a mistake since their system orders directly from the order, but the Suzuki sticker doesn't match the partnumber on the order specific sticker so someone messed up.
I spoke to Zach and he tells me that they will order the right one and get it out asap and asked me to return the incorrect one.
Hopefully it will be cheap to ship back.
