    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gas shortage?

Sometimes under hard acceleration I start to run out of gas in the fuel bowls. I have to let it idle for a while to allow the fuel to “catch” up.

The bike has unknown mods. It’s a 83 GS1100 with “1150” on the side. Apparently it was re-worked a little for a magazine shoot back in the day by a local southern California Yoshimura shop. It’ got the pipe Yoshimura sold back in the day. That’s the story I got. Runs fine otherwise. 13,000 on the odo.

Petcock or Kinked fuel line. Also check your petcock filter.
Any in-line fuel filters?
 
That is a sharp-looking bike. Anyone know if those are the factory rims or what they're off of? Size??

If the bike sat for a long period of time, could it be sticking float needles? Especially if it's the rubber-tipped needles. Probably is a petcock or filter issue, but thought I'd toss in my $.02.

Look inside the tank with a flashlight. If you see a lot of rust on the walls, you have rust debris floating around inside, which is momentarily clogging your petcock strainer element restricting fuel flow.
 
Also check your fuel cap vent. See if it still hesitates with the gas cap off.
 
Didn't know for sure. Still a bad-a$$ bike. What size are the rims? I'm not a big fan of the factory rims on my '81 GS750E and I really like the way those look. Is it a 530 or 630 chain?
 
Try it on PRI instead of ON and see if the problem goes away. IF it does, the petcock needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

A common problem with an easy fix.,
 
On bikes with pods, leaving the vent hoses on can lead to carb problems that are almost impossible to diagnose. There have been a few threads here on the subject.
