DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i will check them out as well..was just thinking a sticker would be WAY cheaper and an easier fix..no tear down..just peel and stick.. even at at say 15 bucks a pop your way ahead of the game i would think.

Certainly would be a great option if they could be made. My housing was also cracked so I had to replace it for that reason too....

Not too bad to swap out the housing...

well from what i have read in this thread, Rudy knows some folks that might be able to do exactly that.. this is what got my interest peaked!! Hell i would buy three or 4 sets just to have on hand when and if the first one got damaged!!! make them for all the bikes withn this silk screened leterring setup and make some coin selling them on the forum!!!

It is a great idea. Hopefully he will respond soon. Seems like there is interest in the faces again too....

Guage Lettering

Guage Lettering

Any word on the white lettering on the idiot lights? I have a really nice guage face off of my '77 750. The only reason why I replaced it with a NOS one was because those letters were faded/worn.

still on standby to see if Rudy or someone who knows him signs in.. My wheels in my heada are spinning...maybe take my bike up to that graphics place monday by ne and show the guys what i am thinking... will post any updates if i get a score...

Hey boys just saw the pm's and searched out this thread again. I've been pretty busy with the house renos and stuff for the last year. only read a bit of what has been written here in the last while, so I probably don't know everything what you guys are asking for. The faces do take a little while to get everyones information all together on what they want, but the actual drawing of them isn't too bad as it's just more of a copy/paste thing now. There definitely has to be at least 15 sets to make it worth while now. Our old laser engraving supplier has kinda fallen off the face of the earth, but we found another one a few weeks ago. He seems to be really good. Don't know how he compares on price though. I'll have to find out.

As for silk scrEening stuff, I have no idea. I know there's a big silk screening place up in Winterburne about 10 minutes from my house, but I'd think the cost of templates would be cost prohibitive.

I could also talk to the guy I had make the decal set for my Cooley replica. He's always willing to do off the wall crazy custom stuff for old bikes. Just lemme know your ideas and I'll see what I can come up with.

If I don't get back to you right away, be patient. I still have an old slabbie I'm working on yet too, among other peoples bikes.

Thanks for the PMs Rudy..everyone says your the go to guy. Tell your guy if he can make them i will DEFINITELY buy 3 or 4 for my bikes. The colors on the needles and the red lines are nice as can be .Great whito on the faces and then you get this worn off crappy look on the guage housings. I will look at y 78 as well but i think the 77 and 78 750 is set up in exactly the same configuration... will let you know for sure..Best wishes, Chuck.

Hey Rudy. Good to hear from you. Hope all is well. I am just getting mine installed. Life got in the way for awhile. Will get pics eventually.

Best wishes with your projects.

Rudy...how about a peel and stick sticker for the 77 and the 78 750 guages..you guys able to,produce those as well? I know of three bikes that would love them...

Went back and read all the new stuff. Snuck out on the GS tonight for a few hours, but back now to keep designing my kitchen. No rest for the wicked I guess.

Anyway, about an appliqu? for the faces as chuck mentioned. Probably not the best solution. Will probably be close to the actual acrylic faces as far as price goes, and exactly the same amount of work. The thing about vinyl is, it shrinks, gets old, and goes for a crap. The acrylic used on previous orders was UV stable. A little more cake than the normal acrylic that we use for work, but good stuff. My faces still look like new, and they've been out in the hot sun for a lot of last summer.

Anyways, if you guys look all through the thread from the beginning, you can see the different designs and ideas. I kept a spreadsheet of what models and what years had what designs, so matching stuff up will be easy. I send out a proof in PDF with dimensions for you to check with your originals, and nothing gets made without your OK.

It usually takes a couple months to get enough people to commit to get started on an order. We'll have to see how much interest the still is. I usually start designing after about 10 people have committed, and then there's usually a few stragglers that come along to fill it in.

I'll hopefully talk to the new laser man this week, but I'm pretty crazy at work, so we'll see what I have time for.

I am in for sure Rudy.. keep a list and when enough interest / comitted member hits. then PM me with all the info i need to send payment and such.. Put me down for my 77 750B and my 78 750E.

nice thing is IIRC my lenses just unscrew...

Rudy.. I checked my 77 750B and my 78 750E and the center of the guage housing with the slikscreened lettering appears to be exactly the same..And i will be in for 4 stickers for them if you decide to go there!! Thanks, Chuck.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but if you have anything for a GS1000E I would be interested in several sets. My friend down the road has two 750E's a 1000E and a 1000S. All us models.

If you end up doing a set for the 77 750 I'd be in for a set...the pics look amazing!

What a really cool way to dress up a vintage bike.

Add my name to the list for my '80 GS850!

Ok boys and girls. Should be enough to get started, but not this weekend yet. I'm building my kitchen this weekend. It's been a long time coming since I haven't had one in about a year. Sawhorses and a sheet of plywood has been my kitchen table/counter top/workbench/tool storage area for quite a while. I'm stoked to have a kitchen sink again! You don't realize how much it sucks until you have to do without it.

70's and some of the 80's 750's, 850's, and 1000's are all the same gauge faces with the exception of the gas gauge on the 1000. L models are smaller. I think 650 and under are smaller as well. 1100's are a different beast all together, and some 1100's have the one piece dash (ES, EF, EFE). Majority of what you guys are asking for are all the same. Real easy for me. Hope to get into it monday.

Have a great weekend all!

Finally got mine done...

Finally got mine done...

Life gets in the way and then fun projects get put on hold. Finally got my face plates on. Here are some pics to enjoy. I also did the stop pin. It took a little effort to pull it out. Twist and pull worked best. Then I ended up using a needle. I held it with a pair of vise grips and twisted it back and forth to make the hole. I stil have to put the gear indicator in but you get the idea. Looks so nice. I am gonna have to force myself to keep my eyes on the road.:)

The last pic makes the gauges look twisted but they are in there nice and straight...
