A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Awesome work Dave....some of the details that get done and shared on this site are amazing...lots of patience out there....or is it patients??? Gonna share how you did it or I missed that already?

Lookin nice man!!! As with you, life has gotten in the way again this week. Boss thought he deserved to go on holidays to the D.R. Guess who gets to pick up the slack. Woohoo. Still building my kitchen too, the never-ending PITA house renos.

Thanks. I do have patients at work and sometimes I have patience with projects.;)

I pretty much followed the advice on this thread. I bent the bezel back. I think Nessism suggest that. Tried to get the needle off the face without having it fly across the garage. I also used a needle to get the stop in there..

It all took some time but it worked.

Looks so nice with the new gauge cover....

I know what you mean. Sometimes I get things done and other times it seems like things keep breaking around the house (my kids help with the breaking) and I have to fix before I can work on fun stuff.

Working on a few more bike things this weekend....unless.....

Life gets in the way and then fun projects get put on hold. Finally got my face plates on. Here are some pics to enjoy. I also did the stop pin. It took a little effort to pull it out. Twist and pull worked best. Then I ended up using a needle. I held it with a pair of vise grips and twisted it back and forth to make the hole. I stil have to put the gear indicator in but you get the idea. Looks so nice. I am gonna have to force myself to keep my eyes on the road.:)

The last pic makes the gauges look twisted but they are in there nice and straight...

They look fantastic... having the needles the same colour as the dials might increase the time required to 'get a read' on them though, while riding....contrast helps somewhat, with monitoring the gauges using peripheral vision while looking ahead.
Tony.

Tony,

That is a good point. I had thought of that late last night when putting them back together. I will see how they do and if need be I will paint them black. I have two extra needles. I also have two extra faces of the original style if anyone is interested. I had gotten an extra set of gauges to work with and the face plates were in good shape. Mine were cracked which is what got me into this whole thing originally....

All it might take, is to paint the needle tips where they meet the numerals red, or florescent orange to provide a cool 'floating' effect, and make the gauges 'pop'.:)

Good idea. I might just go ahead and do that before I install them. It won't take me much time to get back into the gauges since I have already bent back the bezel. Easier to open again....Thanks.

EXACTLY what I'd like to do the mine....except for the "750" part of course :p.....but it's the right look!

And the idea of flourescent orange tips on the needles is a good one

Wow those look nice!!

These look GREAT!! can you get this done for the GS650? what does it cost? I might be in for 2!!!

Sorry dudes, I haven't forgotten about you yet. Life gets in the way all the time. Ridiculous at work, busy at home, and my sister is getting married this weekend. Both the car and bike are overdue on oil changes because I just don't have time. Kitchen is coming along now though, but by the time that's done, my windows will be here....... it's a vicious cycle. :-k

Will keep trying to find a few minutes soon to put some stuff together.

Good luck on all fronts, I know how that goes. I can wait as long as it takes, if you would include me. I have a '78 and '79 GS1000E.
