A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

Newbie here trying to bring back to life a 1982 Suzuki GS850GL.

Rebuild the front calipers and the front master cylinder. Front brakes are spongy. Did some research and it looks like brake hoses are in order. Suspect the ones on the bike are original.

Anyone out there know the length of the three front brake hoses (1 upper and two lower)?

Trying to keep the spend down. Found these on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle...m2cc1611172:m:mkbbcDBhm_FN-b8RBmBfdNQ&vxp=mtr

OEM part numbers - 59240-47051 (need 2) & 59240-47052

Your helps is appreciated.

Thank you,

Maurice

Thank you,

Maurice

The ONLY way to be sure is to Take Them Off and Measure Them Yourself.

I sure would not want to take the heat if they didn't fit.. Be aware that your choice of handlebar is very important as to length. Soooo, if you have an idea to change them in the future, include this in your "consideration". If there's any doubt, a bit too long is always going to be better than too short .Overlong might be ugly looping out in the breeze, but they can be shortened later. Too short? - they're garbage.

I was rummaging through a parts box and found my old rubber brake lines from the '83 850 G. From the master cylinder to the splitter is 20.25", splitter to caliper on each side are 21.25". Measurements are from Center to center of the banjo bolts

Frankly I'd be really concerned about those Chinese brake lines having the banjo bolts oriented in the wrong direction. There's a company called Rennsport you can call on the phone and tell them what year and model bike you have and they'll look up the specs for it. You can get a complete set with all three front lines and the rear shipped to your door for around a hundred bucks.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for checking the size.

Is this the Rennsport you mentioned?

No, here's the one I and many others on this site have used. A phone call will help sort the right parts.

There are a number of ways to get this done, just sayin what worked for me.

Have you seen this GSR greeting page?

Tons of goodies in here including links to tutorials on how to make your own brake lines.
