As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Local store is selling oil filters that are just bare and they promise me thats how they come. Not happy so im asking who else cant buy genuine filters in the original packet. Seen on ebay that you can get them sealed from Indonesia in different style packaging. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Bandit-GSF400P-Engine-Oil-Filter-OEM-PN-16510-45040-/151645875792 Even can get same from the states and packet of 10 mite cost almost the same shipped to Aus than buying here. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/suzuki/SP-16510-45040.html $48US for parts and $44US for shipping. Any suggestions?

I've had the same problem, getting quality filters for cars and bikes. We used filters from Asian countries and they broke down in few months, clogging the oil flow. Stick to the likes of K&M filters, if you can't get OEM.
One of the problems we have in Australia is that most dealers are made to conform to the principal dealer/owners wishes and buy off a "preferred" supplier. I've ordered parts for my GS and noticed on the invoice in the fine print that it all comes from a Sydney based wholesaler, and these matched a parts invoive I got for my Kawasaki Z900. Exactly the same dealer and address, but with Kawasaki top print. And to make it more worrisome an American parts dealer whom I bought a handlebar switch from had almost exactly the same invoice.
I also use to work for a large construction company, and we had more vehicles than the WA police force. All the Toyota utes were bought via the assembly plant in Malaysia, with the aussie agent getting his cut. But when you read the service fine print they said the held the "right" to use their approved parts. We queried this and withheld the sale until they could confirm they would use OEM parts and servicing. They then tried to hit the company for an extra $800 per vehicle in the sale price, 102 vehicles were to be purchased.
Sadly there are parts supply monopolies around the world, offering a minimum service. Stick to the old ways and shop around and deal with people that can offer viable warranties for the products they sell.

Most of that went over my head, sorry. All i want is genuine stuff and who/how u get it thanks. I NEVER have used a non genuine oil filter after one of our riders did the oil change the nite before the Castrol 6 hr. Was a long drive home after the filter fell apart and went thru that engine on race day.

Sharpy,

My first and only attempt to use a local (Australian) Suzuki dealer failed when the spare parts guy got narky over my request for an aftermarket rear sprocket that had the silver "zinc plated" look, rather than the black finish that many are these days. I was especially keen to retain the original look. His attitude was "you will get what you get". That response cost him thousands of dollars worth of business.
Since then I've bought almost exclusively OEM parts, and all of those came from either the U.K or USA. Shipping adds to the steep cost but the service is very professional and online stores are generally easy to use. Packaging is clearly by Suzuki, and includes OEM part numbers.
Unfortunately I consider overseas trading to be a necessary evil for those of us restoring or running an old Suzuki in this country. My two cents worth. Others may disagree.

Hey Sharpy , I know you're looking for OEM filters and I don't know where you'd get them .
I've always used K&N with no problems . Some have been in there for quite a while when I've not been riding much (for various reasons) and haven't noticed any deterioration .

I've no doubt you already know this . I've never heard of filters falling apart but I don't have your experience with these bikes .

Cheers , Simon .

Wasnt on a Suzi was a Honda 750 bol-a-dor. But still a non genuine filter. Yes we are all anal about our bikes, some more than others.
And to Sealpup. My dealer is good just there hands are tied in this instance. No where near as punchable as your spare parts bloke it seems. :)
