If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

U need some much better close ups of those combustion chambers. That end one looks pretty ratty infact cracked but I'm sure there is not enough resolution to tell.

Also look out for cracks between the valve seats and spark plug hole.

I will not know but some one else will.
I looked at the chambers closely with a magnifying glass and there are no cracks. The #1 chamber has some pitting? in it as well just not as bad. A tiny bit on the head gasket surface as well. Looks like casting flaws to me.

On the valve faces also???

Just sayin'

I agree the bottom chamber ate something during its life. I would either lightly smooth over any sharp edges or have it welded up and remachined. The latter may be too expensive vs replacing the head. I'm also not sure it is necessary, hard to tell by looking at pictures.

Dark spots in the cylinder are either where the previous hone didn't clean up the bore or maybe where the rings were at during the hibernation period. Again hard to give any advice from the pics but that is where the rings are going to be sealing when the plug ignites the fuel mix and makes a whole lot of pressure. The surface needs to be good there!

It is hard to tell from pics, I know. The dark areas in the bore are where the hone didnt clean up. The ring end gap measures well within spec, @ .008". Maybe even a little too tight? Tighter than what Wiseco says they should be. I cant see any spot in the bore where the rings sat it one place for a long time. I can see the hone marks in the dark areas, it just didnt clean up real nice.
Three of the four sets of valves have rough surfaces.
Valves are stock diameter.

Well, the old girl gave up her engine quite nice, easier second or third time around I guess. The crank is welded:D, about 1/3 of the circle has a bead on it, not just a spot. Yes, copper base gasket as well as head gasket:cool:. My 750 has a gear indicator on the dash, I am wondering if the sensor on the shift drum will work with my 750 dash, anybody know?

Making progress, got the head torqued down
Cleaning, polishing, painting side covers and stuff now
Waiting for my stainless bolt kit to arrive:(

Hows the clutch hub? I'd look into a Gorrila clutch hub or find a rebuilt one off Ebay. Those stock suckers just plain suck. :!:

The clutch hub looks decent, but the heavy springs in back are loose:(
I will have to look into rebuilding it, I did my 750 hub fairly easy. The difference between the two is major, the 1100 hub looks bulletproof compared to the 750 one.

What did you have done to the cylinder head? Did I miss a post?
What carbs., pods/no pods, exhaust in the 750 frame?

Eric

The cylinder head was cleaned already and a valve lap done with new seals, the ports were either mildly cleaned up before or the casting is a lot better than my 750 head. I have 34mm cv carbs on my 750 now with a DJ kit. I am going to try and use a stock airbox with a K&N. I have the 1100 airbox and the 750 airbox, have to figure what I am going to do. The 750 has a V&H 4-1 header on it already and I was wondering about fitment, primary and collector sizes etc. Then I looked at the V&H site and the part number for the 750 and 1100 4-1 are the exact same:D ,so I am golden. I had 3 EBC clutch springs left over from the 750 along with 3 new stock springs that are going in, and I am going to deglaze the steels before they go in. I was wondering about gearing, I have a 530 set on it now with a 17/49 ratio, and I already have 16t and 18t front sprockets, but I will likely stay with the 17/49 unless someone says something to change my mind.

That will be one FUN "sleeper" ;)
You are going to leave the 750 stickers on it right? :D

Eric

I LOVE IT when I get comments about my bike.
Like this one:
"That is the fastest 750 that I have ever seen!"

:D

Eric

You may get clutch slippage with the 3&3 setup. I had to go with six Barnett but I think I was pushing a little more HP.
