A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Postings to the For Sale and Wanted sections will be deleted 90 days after the initial posting date if there has been no activity to the thread in the last 7 days. This is done to eliminate dead posts from the forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone got a luggage rack that will fit on an 82 GS1100GK? Or know what other models will fit? I see several on eBay but not this one specifically. I'm not even exactly sure how it's supposed to mount so I cant tell by looking if the ones I find will fit.

Update: Found one from a user here on the forum!

I do have a KG rack, sissy bar and a travel trunk that by using the various mounts that were available this one installed on a GS250T, GS450T and on my GS1000ET and according the instructions it also fits the "80 GS850 & 1000. If copies if the installation papers would help let me know. And of course I would be glad to send photos too.

I got an entire set, the rack, two side bags and trunk. All bad shape. Rack rusty. Side bag trunk faded cracked tarnished scratched up.
Also have fairing that is worse, missing pieces. GK Stock. Marron, so probably 1982. (BUt I doubt any change over the 82-83-84 other than paint scheme.)
Also, fairing mounting.

All needs to go to someone in next few years, or at some point our kids , will be tossing in a dumpster.

Thanks. I got the rack from XRRRX. Just the trunk rack. It was in excellent shape.

any pictures of it you can post? thinking I might want one at some point in the future as well for the GS1100G

miked This is the only one I have currently. Right after this trip I had to take it off. Because of the way I had it mounted and the poor conditions of the roads that day, I ended up bending the "slots" on the front of it where it connects to the shock mount. There, and one bolt a little further back where the only mount points I had available. There are no mount points in the back, near that red reflector. I should have fabricated a bracket to give it additional support.

But I'll fix the slots and make some brackets and it'll be rock solid when I put it back on.

Check my post from earlier about the KG rack etc. The rack is in quite good condition even with using it for years, the back rest is new, and the trunk id=s also quite good hardware and instructions included.
