DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Goldwing tire size (sorry)

Can someone please tell me what the heck an MT90HB17 is in a real tire size?! I know that the rim on the back is a 3x17 inch rim, with that size tire on it, . The front is a 2.5x19inch, with a real tire size of 100/90-19. I dont know what to replace that MT90HB17 with, because that is seeming to be a hard size to find.

The MT90HB17 is actually a Dunlop, probably a K491. It's comparable to a 130/90-17. The B stands for belted, the H for the speed rating, 17 is obviously the rim diameter.

Dunlop and perhaps others have used this alpha-numeric system for a while, making things more confusing than they should be. A 130/90-17 will fit your Gold Wing just fine. I remember the GL1000 Wing (1979 thru 1979) came with 17-inch rear tires.

This size is a bit more difficult to find than the comparable 130/90-16, which came out on GL1100 Gold Wings, and is still used on some modern (???) Hardley Ablesons.

My GS1100GK came with a 16-inch rear wheel, but I alternate use of it with a 17-incher from a GS850 I used to own. I can still buy 17-inch rear tires for it on eBay, and many accessory mail order places still have them for sale.

Hope this helps.

Nick

Hope this helps.

Damn, you really know your tires, becuase it is a Dunlop K491, and it is on a 1979 GL1000 'Wing!! I just was wondering what kind of real tire would fit on it because this one is as hard as a rock.

Also, let me clear this up. It's not my 'Wing, but a friend of mine's. However someone has slaped a 130/90-17 on the back of my GS, so I think I am going to replace the one on my bike with that size so that I can have some more rubber on the road.

MT90 series is 5.00/5.10 X
5.00/5.10 series in a 17" is 130/90/H17
