A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So my 1983 gs1100E with the stock welded crank and a welded clutch basket with a heavy backing plate, has some piston and cylinder scoring from the previous owner. She's burning oil.

I definitely need to replace the block and pistons, what's a good size bore to go with if I'm running this thing on the street? Is there a place that I could get a kit with pistons and a bored out block?

Contact member "Rapidray". He has a shop in California that builds big-block GSes. :encouragement:

.

1170 is highest standard over bore that you can get with your crank and block. Probably as far as you want to go to avoid over heating as well. With 1150 crank and block you could go 1229cc. I'm also using straight cut gears and billet basket. Ray has been very helpful in giving me advice on going the 1229cc rout with an 89 GSX-r750 head and cams.

I have a good standard bore 1150 block I can sell you if you're interested. Ive got the pistons too, but they use a bigger pin than your 1100 so they wont work. Also the 1150 will bore a little bigger than your 1100 (I think an 1150 block will bore to 1229) if you feel the need to do that.
I could meet you somewhere between Flower Mound and Plano if youre interested.

If you get an 1150 block you can do a 1229 with a 3mm overbore. The same 3mm over bore on an 1100 only makes an 1166. I have a standing order with CP Pistons for a 1229 piston kit with 18mm wrist pins. Let me know if I can help.
Ray.

APE has a 1260 kit that will fit a stock block, but you need to install new necked down sleeves. They also have a 1327 kit that requires new sleeves and case boring but I suspect it would run pretty hot on the street.
