A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Good Roads near SW Ohio

I just read this thread that stretches over a couple of years. I live in Hillsboro and ride nearly all of the roads mentioned here. One of my favorites is 247 from Hillsboro to Sr 52 on the river. 73, 42 and SR 32 are all good rides. I also like KY. 8,10 and 32.
If anyone is still riding this area I would enjoy hooking up for a ride.

:clap:This thread needed a bump. There are a lot of good roads in your neck of the woods. I rode with a few members last year in SE Indiana. It's hard for me to ride for any length of time with twin 2 year old girls at home. However, keep posting on here as there are a lot of members within 100 miles of you. I'm sure you can get together. There are also some annual rallies near you. I believe there is one in Brown County Indiana in May, and one at the Gorge sometime in July I believe. One of these years I plan on getting to one of these rallies.....one of these years.

Check out the threads in the GS meeting place for more details.

Just noticed this post this morning. I just got my 81 650E up and running. I live in Western Hills/Delhi OH. I am close to SE Indiana and 5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

I grew up in SE Indiana and know a TON of fun roads, some of the best are Route 1 toward perfect north slopes and up to tower road. Good times.

Oh really? Any advice on the best route to Bedford for the Brown County rally? We've tried a few things, but we can't find a way around that boring stretch of 250.

Never actually been to Bedford. Is that up past Metamora?

Where is this 250 of which you speak?

I just looked on the map and can not find it.

Thought I would try something other than our usual route ... 50. :p

Follow 50 east out of Bedford toward Brownstown, look just south of Brownstown, you'll see IN250, goes south east...gets curvy here and there and gets real curvy in spots, but between Madison (have to jaunt over a couple of roads round Madison to catch 250 again) and Brownstown it's pretty flat and straight and damn boring to be honest.

Here's the stretch I'd like to improve upon. The portion east of Brownstown is the section I'd like to avoid. The basic problem is that there is a flat plain that runs all the way south to Louisville. The only way I can see to avoid it is to detour through Kentucky. Not necessarily a bad thought.

Not a bad thought but keep in mind Jimmy is just coming off of getting his guts cut open so has had zero seat time and probably won't have much before then, so I'm gonna doubt he is up for a 12 hours in the saddle kinda day just to get out there. We may have to deal with the "doldrums" to keep the rest of the posse healthy ;)

Well, I wasn't actually proposing we try it. Finding a route sounds like a good excuse for a day trip or two, but I don't want to try it on a day when I'm really just trying to get somewhere, at a time of year when you have higher-than comfortable odds of getting rained on. It's probably not even worth it.

Back on topic. 50 and 250 between Bedford and Brownstown. Not good roads near SW Ohio. Just thought I'd ask a native if there was an alternative.

I think I'm pretty good to go! Need to get the bike out of mothballs though... :o

Here's a nice little ride I plan on taking to Bedford, the eastern part is pretty good, could be modified for a few more local roads that are good too as this was for just catching as many as I could on the way to Bedford.

Ok iPhone users, 'splain this:
Why is it that when someone posts a "directions" link like this does google maps in my phone freak out and say it doesn't exist?

By the way James Brown, get a hold of me. We will de-mothball yer dang machine.

That Speedway station you use as a starting point is about 1 mile from my office (I work on Gilmore, next door to the Minard's that just opened last year). I live in Harrison. That is one creative way to get to Harrison.:p I may have to try that "shortcut" some day. I will recommend New London Road. That is the way I usually commute to work on two wheels. Not super twisty, but pretty scenic once you get out of Hamiltucky.

Scenic?? We ain't got time for no "scenery". :p besides, at the ton, all the scenary looks the same anyways :twistedevil:

Jim,

One quick recommendation on your route, since you are looking to add as many twisties as possible to your route. On Harrison Ave, take a right on West Road (near Miami Whitewater Park) and follow that to Dry Fork (taking a left on Dry Fork after that stretch will get you back to your original route). That's a pretty fun little stretch of road that I ride pretty often.

I just tried it on my Android phone. When I click on the link, I have the option to open in it a browser or the Google Maps app. It only works in a browser. Google Maps looks like it's misinterpreting part of the link as a destination address.
