Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

did you ever get the races out of the GS headstock? One trick we use at work to pull races is to run a weld bead all the way around the inner surface of the race.
it doesn't have to fill the race, just one continuous bead around the inside of the race and let it cool.
it'll shrink the race and you can get it out with a couple of gentle taps. I've had them just fall out of a hub doing this

Here's the conversion bearings and new swingarm bearings pluss fork seals and dust collars

Changing the fork seals ment I had to make myself a new tool for compressing the spring... A piece of exhaust pipe, two nuts, some self vulcanizing tape and threaded bar and voila:

a friend of mine came through and made me some new collars and bushings for the rear swingarm, the swingarm was also milled down 3 mm on each side to fit inside the gs frame...

So now the only stuff that remains to get it rolling is to remove the battery tray and make the mounts for the upper and lower shock and brace the frame, however its sort of on hold at the moment because the rear tire is a 190/55-17, way to big. My thought is to use a supermotard 4.5" wheel with a 170 rear tire. Also a supermotard front wheel with gsxr spoke hub from cognito moto...
I'll probably be picking up a set of SM wheels next weekend so I can start the job of fitting the rear wheel and get the geometry like I want it Stay tuned

So, I've been out with the measuring tape now. I've been so caught up in geometry and such that I completely forgot about the wheelbase... I've been staring at that rear end thinking to myself that it is kinda off, too long, too stretched. And it sort of is, because the swingarm is longer than the stock one. This all leads to the wheelbase beeing ca 1510mm long, compared to stock 1490.... My question is, what is the effect of those 20mm's(almost and inch, 7/8?) of extra wheelbase gonna be? If any at all?

Compared to my SV1000S the gsxr swingarm I have is around 20mm longer, the gsxr being 625mm vs the sv1000's 605mm. Does anyone know the length of the bandit 1200 swingarm?

With all the other changes you are making the 20mm longer wheelbase will not be noticeable at all.
