A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I casually passed a white truck on an uphill straightaway with a double yellow in Mt. Rainier National Park. The speed limit was 35 mph, I was doing 65 which seemed lazy and comfortable to me.

However, as I passed the truck, I noticed out of the corner of my eye a logo on the door panel. Nah, its not a park ranger and continued on my way. When I arrived at the Chinook Pass Jct., another ranger was flagging me over. I momentarily considered bolting, but pulled over. The truck I passed pulled in with the head honcho park ranger behind the wheel. He was not pleased and wrote me three tickets in row: Passing on a double yellow, reckless driving, and no insurance. In the end, it was lowered to negligent which I guess I was guilty of.

The insurance ticket wouldn't have stuck. It's not required in Washington State for motorcycles. I'm surprised he even wrote that one.

Last year I was on the way home from Charlotte,NC from recovering an airplane and decided to take a slight detour. I had heard numerous stories about the Dragon from a good friend of mine who rides a Wing, so I decided to take the alternate route (and it would keep me out of Atlanta rush hour traffic again).

It was a really cool ride even in a Ford Ranger, and I was pushing the truck as much as I could(to keep from holding up others) and letting people pass (riders) when ever I could. The only problem I had I was in the inside of a blind turn (hugging the right side of the road) when some guy on a rocket scraping his knee took out the drivers side mirror in the truck with his helmet. Best I could tell he never slowed down and kept on hauling a$$, once I got to a place to pull over some cruisers that had been behind me pulled over to check the damage. Seems the idiot wobbled a bit and almost hit them, a couple of bikes had to run off the road to avoid him(again thank god we were on the inside of the turn.)

The fun part came when I got back home and had to explain how the mirror got broken (company truck):D.

I was recently watching some bike cam videos of crotch rockets on the Dragon & the bike in front of the one with the cam was draggin knee & took out the mirror of an oncoming vehicle & kept going, don't remember if it was on you tube or what. Could this have been your mirror RobC? If I can find it again I will look to see if it was a ford ranger.

For you to have bargained down those three tickets was a lucky break - if you've got no insurance and you know the severe penalty for that, then you should've been happy with just the negligent driving conviction. Besides, that negligent driving is the catchall for anything that the cops don't like but isn't illegal - it's a tough ticket to fight.

I very rarely pass on a double yellow and I get p!ssed whenever anyone gets too close to me or invades my space, period. If I don't pull to the right to let you by, you pass me in the next lane, not in mine! I do not share a lane with anyone unless it is in a staggered formation. Sorry, I don't trust anyone that much.

I usually ride at a fast enough clip that most would not want to pass me anyway, but occasionally some crotch rocket kids do want to blow by and I just wave 'em by and let 'em go...

Fools Raceway

I looked at the "Official Site" for the "Tail of the Dragon". The road's got to be called an idiot magnet. Avoid all these fools raceways. There are so many empty country roads around, I pitty da po' fool dat dies to prove he's a maan.
You can get some real racing done on any track day. Fools raceways are up and down every commuting route, in every town.
