GS 1000 G filter box, this absurd creature.

Looking at the parts diagrams on www.alpha-sports.com and www.partzilla.com it is indeed true that GS1000G and GS1000GL have different rubber connections ("Hoses") between airbox and carbs. I did not know that. Hope you get it sorted out!

I think there is a bit of confusion around, how can the codes on the various sites be identical between the GL and the G, the OEM cone I mounted has the code 13882-45050 and on the opposite side GS1000GL.
How do they have the same connections with two sets of different carburettors: the GL mounts the VM 28 SS while the G mounts the BS34SS, this would explain everything, I have never had the G tires nor have I ever seen them on the web, for this reason they don't match.
So as soon as I got it it already had the GL ones and the new one that I got was the same. I have to deduce that they will be impossible to find and therefore I will have to intervene on the box to recover 1 cm.
Rob S was right.
Dremel. Then pods. :indecisiveness:

Email CruzinImage... they might make them for you..? Worth a shot. I ordered the ones that just say "80-81 GS850" and they fit well on my GS850GL. They did match the part numbers from the parts fiche. All of mine were hard and shrunk.

Are they compatible?, but if I have to make a mess, then I put 4 cone filters or similar systems and bye air box

Absolutely not! Just meant if you enjoy pulling your own hair out, you'd enjoy trying to access the battery on an 11EZ or ED or ESD. :grief:

I used a Dremel to access my 11EZ's battery. Was able to salvage 1 of the 2 pieces of the airbox. Installed pods and never looked back. Of course, I paid to have it jetted on a dyno.

After reassembling the filter box with the tires for the GL model and sealing it with silicone, all acceleration problems are gone, it goes smoothly under acceleration.
At the start the first piston took a long time to heat up, then it went away. I disassembled and restored the pipettes, they have a kind of resistance, a little encrusted and with the contact head blown, I removed them and put the resistance back without caps, I don't think it's that. Even the clutch, when it engages in torque, seems to slip, I hope so due to the bike stopping, I don't think it needs to be redone at 25K km, perhaps the springs are a little loose. I still have to test it thoroughly to understand the final adjustments but at least this first step is solved

I purchased the tires they describe for the GS1000, naively at the beginning I thought they were more standard, in fact they arrived and they are straight, not off-centre.
It seems that for the G with the BS34SS mikuni they are impossible to find, even the codes cannot be found and all the ones you find around are from the GL which seem identical but are evidently not as decent as they would need, the GL is mechanically identical but has different carburettors, that's why the interaxes don't add up. However, with the silicone on the side that takes in air, it resolved the gaps in acceleration
