GS 1150 3.5" wheel on GS 1100 swinging arm

I've upgraded the 2.5 inch rear wheel on my 1100 Katana with a 3.5 inch rear wheel from a GS 1150.
The wheel fits straight in but...it is offset to the right hand side by approximately 7.5 mm
Before trimming the left hand spacer by 7.5 mm, I'd like to get some advice as I don't understand where this offset comes from?
I can't imagine the original wheel had this offset but I haven't checked back so far...
The next step will be to insure that the chain is aligned.
I noticed that the cush drive/sprocket hub is slightly pushed out on the 1150 wheel to allow room for the chain to clear the tire.
As I have an 1135 engine, I suppose this is accounted for by the offset in the final drive sprocket (more correctly by the spacer behind this sprocket) ?

Just so you know, your FIRST step needs to be to check the chain alignment as THAT is what dictates your wheel spacer thicknesses! Ray.

Ray I would think it is getting the rear wheel into the middle of the bike and then deal with the chain offset..................

On my bikes ( GS 1000 to GS 1100 Kat first gen) they all have the cross spoke wheel pattern and the width is 2.5 inch at the rear.
The second gen 1100 Kat with the three double spoke wheels has a 3 inch wheel at the rear.
I believe the GS 1150 was the first Suzuki with a 3.5 inch rear wheel with the same spoke pattern.
Later on the first gen GSX R 750 slabside continued the same spoke pattern but now in 4 inch wide but with an 18" diameter.

I'm still trying to solve the rear wheel offset issue when using GS 1150 rear wheels in a GS 1100 swingingarm.
The offset is about 6 mm to the right and it occurs with both 3" and 3.5" rear wheels.
Looking up the part numbers, I noticed that both the left and the right hand spacers are the same between the 1100 and the 1150
I believe the only explanation for the offset must come from the width of the swingingarm?
On the 1100 (and the GS 1000) it's 260 mm measured at the axle from inside to inside.
Could anyone measure the 1150 swingingarm for me?

Is the wheel centered with the front? This are the important aspects of doing a wheel swap. Your not using a 1150 swing arm so what does it matter how wide it is? Get the wheel centered and go from there. I you need spacers cut or offset sprockets so be it.

I'd suggest you start chumming up to someone with a lathe and a bit of accuracy.

Let me explain why I'd like to get the width of a GS 1150 swingingarm.
Given that the LH spacers are identical between the 1100 and the 1150, the wheel can only be centered on the 1150 if the swingingarm is wider.
When I will know by how much, I will be able to confirm the offset and then go to my favorite machining shop.
Working it back to front , if my 6mm offset is confirmed the width of the 1150 swingingarm would be 260 mm + 2*6 mm= 272 mm.
And yes , I do understand that I will have to go to a machining shop in the end
