DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi Every one
I'm after a starter motor rebuild parts / kit but having problems finding the parts for it here in Australia. Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Welcome to the Forum.

LOTS of helpful, knowledgeable people here.

It may be easier to find the whole starter as opposed to parts -- and maybe cheaper. I see them all the time on EBAY. There is also a WANTED section in this forum.

You should also check https://alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm to see what other models and years use the same starter.

For finding a rebuild kit, the forst thing you neeed to do see if you have a Denso starter or a Mitsuba starter, the difference being if is 2 brush (Denso) or if 4 brush (Mitsuba).

And knowing you are having trouble finding any parts, I might sugeest finding a complete replacement starter might be easier.

Use Stocker Starter site to determine what all models are useable in your bike.
I did that and it seems to be a short list ... hummmm....

Hi everyone.
Thanks for replying to my post . The starter motor is a Denso two brush one . When I pulled it apart one of the springs that puts tension on the brushes was broken. I have now ordered two . Thanks again for your advice and wisdom .

Hi John, I went through my GSX400F starter recently. I was lucky with my brushes, they were about 11mm long so well within service limits, and the internals cleaned up well. Reassembly was a bit of a fiddle but I found I could gently rock the cap with the brushes over the commutator, holding one brush at a time back against its spring. It's one of those jobs where a mug of tea with a helping of patience pays dividends.

The case and ends caps polished up nicely too.

I rebuilt the starter motor on my GS850 using Honda parts dug out by my dealer. Some of the starter stuff is fairly universal.
