DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi I have an 83 GS550ES with a stage one Jet kit, open air box, K&N stock replacement air filter, and a 4 into 1 exhaust.
The bike runs very well (thank you guys for the help before), but after I cruise down the road it will stall every time I pull in the clutch.
The only way I can keep it running is to rev it a few times when I stop and it will idle then.
Please help
Thanks

It will idle at about 1200rpm moves up and down a little, but if I turn the idle screw over a certain point it goes wild and jumps to 3k.

If no vacuum leaks my guess would be a plugged pilot circuit or a stuck slide.

in experience with my 83 550E this means you are either way rich are too lean... In having the open air box and the 4-1 I'm thinking you might be lean... do a plug read.

where are your fuel/air screws at? on a stage three kit they are only turned out one full turn. did you stick with the stock pilots? (on a stage 3 kit you stay stock on the pilots)... What mains are you running? On mine with the stage 3 I am running the dynojet 114s (you also get 118s)...

though I've had issues on running way rich...

I say before anything do a plug read.. if you are rich let me know and I'll tell you where I have mine set at... and we can check Nerobro's also (he's got an 83 550ES where mine is "just" an "E")

I just want to confirm turning out the idle screws richens the mix correct

yes, yes it does....

Be careful when you screw them in... from experiance I was screwing mine down to start over and landed it hard... had to scrap that set...
