DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS 550L Gets a make over

Seems like the gas leaking from the #2 carb means a bad petcock. At least that's what I've seen in other threads.

I am not disagreeing with you GT the Petcock is bad but should the floats keep the gas from over flowing and hold it in the tube..... aye aye aye...

I am not very happy about this.

Paul

Well if I leave the gas on and put her on the kickstand she leaks gas, but if she is on the center stand she is good or if I make sure to turn the gas off with the switch positioned just right, she doesn't leak either.... I think I am good with that. All that is left is the rebuild kit for the front master cylinder, which is currently sitting at my bikes parts store awaiting pay day. So I am going to call this rebuild through. Thank you all for those who have followed this and I hope to get plenty of ride time in Sunny Northeast Florida in the coming years. Final pictures to finish her out.

Hey Paul.....

Congrats on a job well done.....hope you have many many years of enjoyment and many miles of riding....

now off to the next project.....LOL

^^^^ Ditto, well done Paul, you certainly did a fine job and she is looking great, may you have many safe and fun filled hours on her, now what is next????:p

Next project is going to be a naked goldwing, or a GS 1100ES in the 82-84 range, but if I can find a Katana in that year range I may be willing to try and find more moeny. Just haven't quite decided and it actually depends on what comes available at the best price and whether or not I have the money at the time. I will keep you guys posted besides I can't ever give up this site it is full of to many great people. The wife is swearing no more projects..lol. I said but this time I have a running bike so the pressure is not as high to "Get 'er Done!"

Awesome stuff Paul! Happy for you mate, feels good to get her done and get ridin' don't it?

I hear ya' on the pressure comment... that's why I haven't even started on the little Duc motor yet, enjoying riding the 450 way too much to start thinking about the next project :D

Congrats on finishing the build! For now at least, always something new comes up . The bike looks awesome. You should be proud! No go ride it!!

Well rode her down today and got the inspection passed. Then rode down into Portsmouth and picked up my master cylinder rebuild kit. It is just so nice to be riding again.

Yeah, just makes it so worthwhile don't it? Just that feeling of freedom...

Little update. Finally got the carb thing figured out then was having trouble keeping her idleing. Took it down to the bike shop to have the Carbs synched and he had to adjust the timing and replace the points. But she runs like a demon now.... even took her up on the Interstate on the way home. Don't care for that ... sitting up like I do on this bike and with the wide grips I was getting buffetted around pretty good. I will stick to the side roads whenever possible. Keep riding guys.

Paul

Glad to hear she's running well now Paul, always good to see things getting better and better :D

You need to get a small screen if you need to do highway miles. I can't believe the difference my home made one makes and it's pretty tiny and unobtrusive.
