Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I just bought 2 parts bike. 1983 GS(x)750ES and a GS(x)700E. The 750 had a terrible death. I bought the bike and found the #4 rod made a nice window in the case, and ended up destroying the clutch basket and breaking 2 valves.

The 700 had a running engine, better body parts, but NO title. I have been removing everything GOOD on both bikes and installing them in the titled frame.

Side panels from the 700 Only fit the 700's gas tank, I replaced the wiring harness and fuse box from the 700,cause I had the 700 engine now in the 750 frame.

My only question, is...I ran across 3 yellow wires that go to the stator and all 3 have the same plugs. There are NO identifications on any of these wires! Will I burn something up if I do not get the 3 wires plugged into the correctly.

This is the only thing of the swap that has given me any trouble. I just want to make sure I'm ok with these before I install the battery and check the rest of the system...

stator help

stator help

from what i have gathered, all three wires are exactly the same. It does not matter what wire goes where. Read the stator papers that is in the garage section on the home page. that explains it all. Lots of Suzukis have special colored wires for the stator and it is for no logical reason. They(the guys on the site and the stator papers) say treat all three stator wires as yellow. all the same.just have to hook them up to the three correct rectifier wires. read the papers to verify for yourself

couldn't get a replacement title for the 700? Woulda saved you a lot of time I would think....

I also like the 750's front forks better than fighting with the spring loaded caps and the wonderful clip.

My project 85 750EF has gone though a slightly different swapping out of pieces.I basically swapped out all the suspension for better 83 pieces I got in my 4 bike package deal.

Hey there RVNKVN,
Sounds like you've got it well in hand. These are super bikes and will deliver lots of smiles and miles.
When the dust settles and you've inventoried what works and what doesn't, and what you may or may not want to get rid of, I could sure use a signal generator cover. Just sayin'.

We need to see some pics!

Will Do SMOKIN...

I just finished putting the tail section, rear fender, turn signals, tailight assembly on. Event though the 700's rear cowling is different, everything goes right on. Even the inner panels to secure the tool kit strap and stays.

I will and do have left over parts..

High risers on the 700, headlight brackets, headlight bucket (that someone cut out the holes to remove wires instead of un plugging them) Tail section, front forks, seat that need a new cover, ignition key panel, frame, tripple tree, I have a listing in the classified section for this. If anyone wants a picture of anything.. leave me your e-mail there.

Today , I'll pull the valve cover while the faring is off and check valve lash. I'll get pictures when I figure out how to load them here..

Thanks everyone!!

Well, looks like I need some more parts from this project. Yesterday I got it running, had a "noise" in the engine. It was random at part throttle, very noted on decel, and then all of a so=udden it just STOPPED. Stopped like locked the engine up.

Anyone have any of these around, OR what engines can I put in this chassis to get back up and running???
.

UPDATE: turned out the #2 connecting rod decided it liked top dead center so much it stuck there! I'm in the process of learning how to split engine cases and installing connecting rod bearing and stuff.

Any of you hot rodders on the 700s ever use the 750 crank and rods with 700 pistons and cams? Will this work?

I'm also trying to decipher what bearings i have or need when the ones in the engine are not colored as the service manual indicates.

Do you check clearances with plasta-gauge while assembling the case halves together only to take them back apart to check?

Thanks for any and all help on this!
