    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS 700 Oil cooler line relocate?

So I'm trying to install a 4-1 header on my 84 Pop up Katana which is the same engine as an 83/85 750/700.
The problem is that the header interferes with the oil cooler line that taps into the bottom right side, near the oil filter.

It is a Yoshi header off a teapot Katana 600. I assumed it would fit as the stock exhaust off the teapot bolts right on. And it mostly does, except that little oil line hose at the bottom. Now that I'm into it a bit of cash, I don't want to give up on it.

My question is this:

Can I relocate that oil tap to some other location on the engine?
Looking at the service manual on BassCliffs' site, there appears to be a plug to the main gallery right below the signal generator cover.

This would be uber convenient if it didn't drop internal pressure like I think it probably will.....

Sorry no pics, my Photoshop doesn't play well with my Apple OS....

Don't really want to put a big ol' dent in the header, don't really want to sacrifice the oil cooler. What to do?

Any thoughts? Or am I just a grade-A MORON?
 
Post some photos so we can see what you are up against. You don't need no photoshop.
 
I am a little confused by this, the oil lines on a 700 tuck well behind the header and very close to the frame..how is this an issue?
 
I had a little bit of the same problem when I ran a Yosh Duplex on my bike. It touched one of the banjos down at the lower end of the line. You could use multiple gaskets to push the header forward. I used two stacked and it gave me the clearance I needed. It gave me a tiny bit more clearance under the sump. You might be able to grind off part of the bolt head too.
 
I've ground the banjo bolt a bit; it's better but still hitting. I'd considered the dual exhaust gasket idea but wasn't sure if it would seal. I'll give that a go and see how it works.

Down at the bottom, flanking the oil filter cover. It hits the right (as you're sitting on the bike) side where the header curves toward the rear.

It will still seal. There's probably room for three or four gaskets if you needed to push it out further.
