A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS 750/1100 camshafts

I have a 81 GS 750 E with trashed cams, I have been told I can use cams from a GS 1100. Has anyone ever used the cams out of an 1100 in a 750. It is the 16 valve motor. I do have a set of 16 valve GS 1100EX cams (1981). Anyone know the difference in cam specs between the 750 and 1100 16 valve motors? The 750 is stock and don't want to ruin the streetability of the bike with 'huge' cams. Please advise and thanks. Terry.

I have used the exhaust cam from a gs750 in my 1100.The exhaust cams are the same specs. the intake cam from the 80-82 1100 have about 0.010 more lobe height than the 750 cam.Other wise they are the same. Tony

Thanks Tony for your reply. so...the 750 exhaust cam is the same profile as the 1100 exhaust cam? And the intake is the same except for .010 lobe lift? The duration is the same? Just trying to decide if I need to find a set of GS 16 valve cams for the 750 or use the 16 valve 81 GS 1100 cams I have on hand. Again..thanks. Terry.

Terry, The intake cam for the 750 measured 1.352.The exhaust cam measured 1.352. The 1100 intake cam measured 1.363. The 1100 exhaust cam measured 1.352. I'm not sure about duration. I would run the 1100 cams in it. More lift especially that small amount is never a bad thing. Tony

No problem. Not sure if you noticed the cam sprockets are larger on the 750 cams. Also if you want to stick with the 750 cams I have a set in good shape. Tony
