    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS 750 Carb changes?

Hello, just wanted to say hi, I'm a newbie here but I swear I had registered before to post a question but can't find any logon information.

Can anyone enlighten me as to when the carbs for the GS750(L) changed? I'm finding conflicting carbs for a 1980 GS750 L

I've come across these:

But I am unsure which my bike should actually have, currently it has the later style one, but I'm having major carburation issues to resolve. Any advice from the experts out there?
 
The upper photo is of the VM series used up until 1979. You won't want those, I don't think they'll even fit. They went to a whole different set up in 1980. Probably best to figure out what's wrong with the ones you have, sounds like you have the right ones.

What's the problem?
 
I've seen your screen name here before. Use the carb clean up section found on the homepage and go through your old ones yourself.
 
Thanks Guys, you just saved me spending $90 on the wrong carbs! Has anyone else had any interesting carb issues with the 80 GS 750?

having just got intimately acquainted with my carbs let me give you this advice: if at all in doubt about your carbs innards' condition ( jets, needle valves, etc. )-)GET A REBUILD KIT! for all 4 carbs! also make sure the bottom hole in your float bowl is clear- it feeds the choke circuit! also the rubbers on the slides must have no holes in them. hold them up to the light and inspect them. other than that, use compressed air and WD40 to blow out all the passages, not wire. (unless hopelessly plugged after a good soaking, then wire use is probabaly acceptable) if you're sure the carbs are ready to go re-install them and make sure your air filter housing and intake boots are airtight, or your CV style carbs just won't work right. good luck!
