GS Sightings

I had a great GS sighting today.
Geneva on the Lake, Ohio. I took pictures but when I uploaded them they disappeared:mad:
I saw an 80/81 et/ex, Metallic blue, and a maroon GS 1000G.
If I can ever find the photos I will post them.
Was anyone in Geneva today?
I am going to have to print some of those GS Business cards and say hello. I kept an eye out for both owners buy never saw anyone.

My GS sighting for the day:

I had been at recycled64's place, putting the finishing touches on his '82 650G. Yesterday we did a quick-dip on the carbs (they have been working well, the dip was "just because") and installed new o-rings in them. Got them back on the bike and actually fired it up, but it was a bit late to do a full sync job and idle mixture tuning. I returned today to finish up the sync and tune, everything went well.

I decided to take the long way 'home'. Took VT 17 over the mountain to VT 100 to head north. As I went by the restaurant on the corner of the intersection, I saw some familiar round cam end caps in the parking lot. I turned around to find the owner and was pleased to meet Devart.

Had a brief chat, and we both continued on our respective ways. :D

Howdy folks,
Saw this little guy parked in the Munical lot by the train station on my way to work this am and was wondering if it belonged to anyone here. Note the sweet tu250 parked next to it. Too bad there wasn`t enough room for me to sqeeze Suzi` between them. :O)

GS 750G (N? has kick start) spotted yesterday at 36th and Dyer Ave (right outside the Lincoln Tunnel) where I park my bike when I ride to work.

Then I passed by an 850G parked in the Lower East Side that night, just caught it out of the corner of my eye. Blue like mine, even has the blue side covers mine lost.

Either of these belong to anyone here? I haven't met anyone in the area with a GS yet except Tim

The one in Schwartz's pic is a '78 GS750 EC, ('E's have the cast wheels), and the one in Trev's pic is a '78 GS750C (spoke wheels)

I saw a pre 1982 1000G or 850G at the intersection of TV highway and the Wilson River highway on Saturday afternoon. It looked like a solid old bike.

I had an identical model, son destroyed it permanently, couple years after I tried to do same, but a new frame and fork slider, etc, brought it back, used it relatively happily for a few more years.:o

Thanks. I knew the E model had the cast wheels, dual front discs and the stepped seat. Trev's looks very nice as well, though.

You'll never know what you'll see on Lazy Sun. Drive!

Saw this on the side of the road on the way to pick up a new to me lawnmower...I stopped on the way back to chat w/ the owner...or turned out to be a rep of the owner...a pretty neat custom..I didn't get a picture of the other side but there is just as much chrome (more, as the shaft housings are chromed too..! The owner appeantly owns his own plating shop..and the rep turned out to be a custom builder!..It was a nice chat and I think it could be had for 2500.00:D

I saw this BEAUTIFUL '82 1100GL model today.
(Did I just use beautiful and L model in a sentence? )

Oh, that two tone color schem is nice. And that bike is nice an shiney.

Yah, Ls look nice.
I recall being in a mo'cycle dealer showroom back in early 80s. They had a big mirror next to some of the cruiser bikes (K'saki Limited) so you could see how you looked on it. I thought instead of a mirror, they should have had something that pushed on your chest so could feel what it was like to have to hold yourself up against the wind.

Withe the blacked engine I would quess that to be an 83.

I would say 650 by the tail piece.
G by the rear drive unit.
maybe 82 by the black color.
(82 GS650G black is what I had for 20+ years)

Picture from side would be better.
But, I found it is not a good idea to try and get up beside a bike going down highway to get a "sighting" photo. I was trying that one time, trying to catch up with car but then go same speed, and look sideways, and take picture. About caused a big problem, because I didnt realize the bike was slowing and moving over to get into exit lane. So decided not to try that again.
So I will be happy with your picture from the rear.

I was on my way to lunch the other day, saw a bike turn in to the hardware store. Saw the round cam covers, had to turn around to see it and talk to the rider.

After introducing myself, I asked if he was aware of GSR, he said he was a member.

Haven't seen him on the board for quite a while, but had a nice chat with Onchiman, riding his '79 550.

I haven't seen one "vintage" (ie 70's-80's) GS this year except my own, although there are a couple of current 500's around. The weekend roads are absolutely clogged with cruisers. I can't believe how many. Still, around here most wave regardless of what you're riding. :)

81 1100E in MA

81 1100E in MA

Saw an 81 1100E today on the way home from the office on Concord Rd at the intersection with Route 3, in Billerica, MA. I caught the guy at the light, but with his full face helment, he couldn't hear me ask about the GSR. His response was "it's an 81!" I must admit, it was in very clean condition - black with red pinstripes. I almost chased him down to chat, but wanted to get home for what was left of the weekend.... Hopefully, I'll see him again and get another chance....
