A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi, has anybody ever used the 600 bandit wheels and forks on a GS1000.

Cheers

not fitted them myself but the front end should be pretty much a straight bolt on, yokes and all. not sure about the back wheel but should fit easy enough with a few spacers made up i expect

My only concern would be a weight issue. A thou is considerable more iron than a Bandit 6. Bandit 12 might be a better choice IMHO

cheers, looks like a cheaper option than looking for suitable Bandit 1200 stuff, rear wheel will be ok as I have a Metmachex swingarm. Any idea what the wheel sizes are 3.5" front, 4.5" rear?

Cheers

Off top of my head no. Check Bikez encyclopedia for year of bandit and that should tell you.

a 2000 B6 is 17x4.50 rear and 17x3.50 front
1998 B6 is 3.00 front and 4.50 rear

Thanks all and good point about the weight it's a heavy old girl

LOL. When I had my 750 I could jump up and down on that thing and never get it to turn over. And I came from the land of 2 strokes, where all I had was a kickstart.
Of course, it did not help that it was my first 4 cylinder and I weighed a good 140 lb. soaking wet.

The Bandit steering stem is longer than the GS

You may be able to swap them, press away

On first gen Bandit 1200 the steering stems are not a direct swap. The GS stem is a smaller diameter, I did that swap last year. I welded up the stem and machined it to a press fit.
