DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Great job! I hope they work as good as they look.
Looking at the photo, three things came to mind.
1. Have you thought of switching to a plastic fender? You won't lose any stiffness in your forks (I see what looks like an old style fork brace) which leads to
2. If your fork brace is anything like the one I have it's too heavy! I wound up replacing it with a more modern (and lighter) one.
3. Drill those rotors!

Great job! I hope they work as good as they look.

Thanks!
I'm not sure if I'm going to use the fork brace or not. Can't use a modern one, It kills the "old school" '70's vibe I'm shooting for. :-D
I have an 1100E fender I could swap out. If I decide to keep it.
I'm also back on the fence about the mags. The spoke wheel and tire is lighter than a bare mag with no tire.
The rotors will get drilled, I just ran out of time.

More to come.

How much will you charge for a pair of the brackets to mount the new caliper? :) :)

Well, I finally got the brakes bled and took it for a test drive. I'm happy! :-D They actually work very well.
Pads aren't seated yet, and it was already dark, so I only took it around the block. More to come. 8-)

I'm glad you're happy! I can't wait to ride with you and Ninja! Thanks again for the bag - it's a perfect fit......will send a pic tomorrow (or Ninja will).

Btw, will the laptop actually fit in it? :-s

I think it will but I think I'll need to get a hard case for the laptop for added protection. The bag will be perfect for carrying work attire when I starting commuting on her. Motorcycle boots and pants aren't exactly "business casual"! :-D

Done.

Done.

Still some detail work left to do, but the brakes are outstanding! Two fingers, no rear brake. Sweet! :-D
I use 1" pvc spacers in the forks and 20 weight fork oil.

When you find out let me know.......

I'm letting you know...It works well.

Stoppies??!!??

No...I didn't dare try. My intention was only a shakedown run close to home in case I missed anything.
One loose nut behind the handlebars is more than enough.

You need to come by and ride it so I'll have some proof. :)
(I don't think anyone believes that the 550 idea worked either)

I don't want to dredge up "that thread" (burning brillo) but it is funny how people react to thinks they may not have thought of otherwise. :?
I'm sure six months from now, somebody will do something like this and it'll be the best thing since sliced bread. :|
