    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

gs1000 power drain?

right gs1000- connect fully charged battery (from my working gsx1100) and get all lights but when i hit the starter it struggles to turn over ive swaped the starter and solernoid and still the same it's like as soon as i put the battery on it somethings draining it straight away
any idears ppl?
 
Lots of ideas and hundreds of posts if not thousands on the same subject. Clean up your electrical system. You are spending all your power on corroded dirty electrical connections that cumulatively act like a huge load resistor in the circuit that robs all your power. You need to clean and inspect where necessary for replacement every switch, bullet connector, plug, ground and fuse box and coat all connections with dielectric grease. Fortunately most electrical connections can be cleaned an reused but the three stator leads, or stator plug are famous for burning and grounds can be a real problem. It takes going through the entire harness and fixing the problems you find. THEN you need to run all the charging system tests. Basic maintenance on an old bike is critical to having a nice running machine. You could have a battery drain, but from your description it could just as well be a huge drain on the battery just trying to use the starter motor. A good cleanup could easily fix all your problems or at least give you an accurate picture of what is going on without other things blurring the picture.

If the start motor is turning over then it's most likely one of the high current cables. Pay specific attention to the cables going to and from the starter solenoid. One goes to the battery while the other goes to the starter motor. Also make sure of the ground wires coming off the - side of the battery. All connections must have good solid and clean attachment points.
